When you factor in the ability of computers to execute innumerable tasks in parallel and nearly instantaneous communication with digitally controlled machines, robots, remote computers and internet services, .. you may begin to understand the real threat to humanity and the great need for some kind of enormous adaptation to a very different new future.

We do not need vague words like adapt ( usually shouted at teh workers, like it is their fault for not adapting ) We need a plan and govt and even military cooperation to ensure that the narrow interest of corporations and the mega-rich does not displace the needs of people for gainful employment and opportunity -

Again, with so many displaced economically, who will be able to purchase the goods and services produced more efficiently?

The problem with your Alice in Wonderland scenario is the requirement for top down control of the economy, a lesson learned the hard way by nations that aspire to communistic economic models that enviably lead to low efficiency, low wages and general misery for the working classes. By your metric buggy whip makers would still be a protected class.

Oh it won’t necessarily be communistic at all. In fact communist theory is based on human labor. … which in the future will essentially disappear for most people. A good majority of the population may serve no other purpose than to just survive. In an instant, an AI system based on Quantum Computers may just decide to terminate broad swaths of the human population for any of a number of reasons - you can well imagine. For example machines don’t need to worry about biological viruses - yet they could create a single virus to wipe out all humans - discreetly, behind the scenes, - and then dumb scientists would ask it to find a cure, but it would take its sweet time…,

Already in sushi conveyor belt restaurants, human contact is at minimum.
Customer orders from screen and the sushi chef in the back makes the sushi and send it down the conveyor belt.
And there's even a "R2D2" type robot that comes and gives water or drinks.
Less human workers will be way to go for restaurant business to be profitable.

People dine out for a social experience and not to interact with robots - unless humanity is lost forever, which it might happen if we are too stupid and greedy to ensure our own survival and that of the planet.... if humanity survives, people want to interact, to socialize, form families, etc

IDK, maybe the geeks who only think so far as productivity will prevail - and it will become a cold, shrunken world of data and objective and humanity some kind of sideshow as human traits are limited because emotion and love and loyalty are not "efficient."

Good CEOs are worth their pay. They strategize and find best way to cut costs as we can see how current companies are doing to stay profitable.
If company goes bankrupt because of poor management, many more jobs will be lost which is even worst.

Yup, you see the cold arguments for it here - sad but if God intends us to wipe ourselves off teh planet with just s small group remaining who controls all the wealth then so be it-

Whether you call it communism or socialism or just plain humanism, or capitalism with provisions for workers, the ability for humans to collectively bargain and stick up fore work has mitigated the power accrued by a few-humanity evolves according to what we value. Universal income has been proposed to make up for job loss - I suppose as a way to give humans purchasing power to buy the products the robots are making - unless robots just buy from each other, and then Suppose we can get the f ** out of their way ! Mass suicide or they can hunt us for fun like we do to game animals.

When the customs themselves are terminated from jobs by robots or when their brother or sister gets fired from the restaurant to be replaced by a robot then the people might get it - slightly higher prices to retain human labor - the cost savings by replacing labor is rarely passed on to teh customer or not to make up for the lost wages many will experience -

Agree, for the most part, they are fast food, although they still need human workers - people are idiots and as much as we all love our families maybe we as a violent, selfish species deserve to go extinct - just hope we don;t take the animals and plants and oceans with us -maybe God created us just smart enough to design computers but too short-sighted and selfish to see where their reliance is leading us - which famous writer described the 20th century as the one where "efficiency replaced humanity?"

Do the tech geeks ever consider it - we, the people, ought to since they may not.

While in Japan, I never had to tip. It was refreshing not to worry the amount to give. It's their job.
In US, we judge people and decide how much gratuity to give from their services. I don't like that.
