Curious as to what everyone’s thoughts are in regards to the D.O.G.E.’s impact will be on the future of residential appraisers. We know that, in general, Musk and Vivek want to get rid of a bunch of useless, wasteful government spending and jobs, forcing government workers that get paid to essentially do nothing to get jobs that accomplish something. I hope there are cuts at GSE’s, etc. My feeling is that this type of change may generally impact independent businesses such as ours beneficially, but wondering what y’all think.

I doubt it.

We are part of the swamp,, since we are the appraisers who do GSE work. Musk is all about efficiency in the private sector too. - Translation is cut workers to better profit the CEO and shareholders. He might develop an AI program to perform valuations, and since he is Trump's buddy, he will get a huge government contract for it.

They are not about so-called small governments. They are about how they can shut down any branch that does not directly profit from them and re-configure the former govt sector to a private sector that their cronies will get contracts to run.

Cutting some government waste is not the same thing as gutting the government to enrich billionaires. Their proposal is the latter.

The GSE's idk what will happen to them, but I do not see anything good coming for appraisers - I hope I am wrong. We will be lucky if we are too small to matter and we continue to get some GSE work, if they continue to exist. Withut them, well - how much private work does the avg res license get - a dozen a year perhaps?

They are ABSOLUTELY about smaller government. One merely has to be able to understand elementary level economics to understand that. If government waste is eliminated - by definition said government is smaller. That's a fairly straightforward concept. They will be bound to some extent, of course, as they're not (at this point) in any official capacity. Just shedding light on some of the excess will, no doubt, shame Congress into taking action on some of it. I agree that it will probably be beneficial for small business - and probably for large business (sans government contractors). The biggest detrimental impact, I think, will fall on government employees. I suspect we'll see some pretty significant contraction in the government payroll.

. DOGE is an advisory capacity; it does not have the power to implement.

How much of their radical slashing ideas will get approved idk. Cutting waste is different than destroying services that benefit citizens. Some govt waste cut is desirable.

But those who gloat over the idea of govt workers losing their jobs - the govt agencies; besides providing essential services that many of us take for granted, the govt also provides secondary employment for the private companies it uses.

More unemployment, more chaos, more disruption lowers housing demand. Drain the swamp! ( replace it with toxic sludge ) it very easy to burn down a house and much harder to build one.

Have you noticed anyone gloating over folks losing jobs? Please provide a citation for your accusations. That said, I take no personal affront if someone is happy that they don't have to drop $600 for an appraisal. It's the same thing, after all. At the end of the day, if my taxes are reduced as a result of trimming the fat that is our federal pork-belly, I will be happy as well. That, however, is not the same as 'gloating' that someone lost their job. Your hyperbole is truly impressive.

The first area likely to be hit is the pointless research that is endemic to colleges. Do we really need to know the rectal temperature of Huskys in Alaska? (Navy funded) Drunk finches, bees on cocaine, ... oh hell, read the list yourself.

If DOGE looked at the AMC Model ....well I think they would be toast and replaced by an APP like Appraisal-Port. Appraisal-Port is very efficient and cost are ver low compared to the AMC Humans!

Here is another one DOGE might look at. Where is the efficiency and actual cost savings using Joe the PDR dude and then the Appraiser.

Only the fed affects our work. The idiot AMC plantation appraisers affect our pay.

However, I don't really care anymore about this profession's direction.

The Idiot AMC's effect efficiency by holding our for the FASTEST & Cheapest Appraiser. They are known to take a day or more holding out. The Consumer still pays the same high fee on the settlement HUD one

The Dems love their country so much they're willing to lie on jobs reports just to keep control of the white house. If that's not love - I don't know what is.
