The Old 1986 Forms

when i look back driving around the rustic suburban areas at the edges of my counties without a cell phone. thank the almighty for never having a car problem. in some areas, no street signs, no individual addresses if any. might as well had a 1942 street map. i'm big city appraiser. i wouldn't do any area outside the city that had a mineral, animal, food or indian name. too far. this very old city has a bunch of streets named after trees & some some indian named st closer to center city. in the 1700's i don't think there were a lot of st names to go with besides nature and numbers.
and the other thing, never had a problem with a photo with the old see thru camera, always came out.

Many towns here changed the street names. Why, I have no idea but if you pull an old Sanborn Insurance map, you find different names from today in my hometowns. And some towns changed names. Appleton became Gentry, Corner Springs became Decatur, Nebo became Gravette, and Hico became Siloam Springs. In nearby Oklahoma, names tended to be past chiefs of the Cherokee, or the town they came from in Georgia and surrounding area, or a tribal name. Delaware County has Jay after jay Washbourne, early missionary, and a few names are left overs from the earliest fur trappers like Salina and Chouteau. Many names along the Arkansas River have roots in those French trappers and settlers. Fourche la Fave, Poteau, and even Magazine has a French origin.

Sorry but slightly off topic, but I can't view the images. The same for other threads. Is there something that I do not have turned on or have turned off?

Thanks.

I thought that may just be me, but I also couldn't open or view them.

The Town of Sonoma had streets named after European countries - France, Spain, etc. That is until around 1940 or so when German Street was changed to Napa Rd.
