Applies to everything. Despite no studies that show any health negatives for Splenda or other artificial sweeteners, web pages claiming to be health advocates or even doctors solomnly swear that diet soda is bad for you. Overhead a widow yesterday claiming her husband died of drinking diet soda. He apparently drank 2 six-packs a day of it. Well, I knew her husband, drank coffee with him on a daily basis at a local cafe, and he also smoked, worked inside dusty chicken houses and breathed that stuff without a mask,(I appraised his farm twice) and had diabetes. That's why he drank diet drinks. One dying from anything is not proof something you did caused it. And diabetes is a killer within itself.
The same with Roundup. Despite over 200 studies that drew no conclusions about Roundup causing cancer, suits continue. Another large study is being made and so far, there is no indication Roundup causes cancer. All the lawsuits are won by being a sympathetic victim of cancer and it's like the old Playboy cartoon of two cops walking down the street and one said, "I smoked a joint once, and it made me want to *ape and kill." I got cancer so it must be something. And the government is pretty good at catching issues with pesticides. One product that is being very limited is done so because the herbicide tends to be very fine. Dicamba then floats to nearby fields when conditions are right and impacts crops it is not supposed to. 24D is an old and common herbicide but tomato fields are seriously impacted even when a mile away or more if any drift occurs. In fact, in Arkansas it is illegal to use 24D in Bradley County due to the high number of commercial tomato growers there.
Since the weather is not cooperating with the alarmists, they modify the "climate model" to match the weather. Tornadoes are less frequent but cause more damage because property is more valuable. Ditto Hurricanes which have actually decreased in numbers. Forest fires are a fraction that of the 1920s. Virtually every climate model created by the alarmists indicate that summers will not be hotter. It is the winters that will be warmer. Yet, they claim every heat wave is proof of global warming. And despite more Arctic ice this year than in 20 years, the Antarctic is losing ice at a rate of a thousandth of one percent, and hurricanes being rather normal after a 10 year hiatus when not a single landfall in the US occurred, the popular press continues to publish this rubbish without a single bit of evidence any of it is possibly true.

The weather cycle is complex enough that even that, I would take with a grain of salt. The 30s were incredibly hot and dry in the N. Hemisphere yet no one is certain why. Some years like 1911 were prone to setting both high and low temperature records. It was a year of extremes as was 1936 and 1934. There was a heat wave in Texas in the early 50s that drove many Texans to move. Texas and the SW has more extreme heat events. It's rare to have a drought in the NE, for instance, but much less so west of the Mississippi.

For more than two decades, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has popularized a count of weather-related disasters in the United States that it estimates have exceeded one billion dollars (inflation adjusted) in each calendar year starting in 1980. The dataset is widely cited and applied in research, assessment and invoked to justify policy in federal agencies, Congress and by the U.S. President. This paper performs an evaluation of the dataset under criteria of procedure and substance defined under NOAA’s Information Quality and Scientific Integrity policies. The evaluation finds that the “billion dollar disaster” dataset falls comprehensively short of meeting these criteria. Thus, public claims promoted by NOAA associated with the dataset and its significance are flawed and misleading. Specifically, NOAA incorrectly claims that for some types of extreme weather, the dataset demonstrates detection and attribution of changes on climate timescales. Similarly flawed are NOAA’s claims that increasing annual counts of billion dollar disasters are in part a consequence of human caused climate change. NOAA’s claims to have achieved detection and attribution are not supported by any scientific analysis that it has performed. Given the importance and influence of the dataset in science and policy, NOAA should act quickly to address this scientific integrity shortfall.​

Today overr 1,000,000 people are without electricity. So, your EV is limited to however many miles you can drive, or you may have to go miles to find a charging station without local juice. The hospitals are likely all running...on a backup generator. A few folks will have Generac generators. And with a full tank your car can go considerable distance to get fuel. That solar panel on your roof isn't going to work. That wind generator - if it survived the storm - will have to be shut down until service is restored. And all the repair trucks are going to be running on gasoline and diesel. All of them. There will not be one single EV machine repairing the damage to the power grid.

I believe for about the 50th (not exaggerating) time, 22 Democrats are calling for an investigation of collusion in the oil business. The FTC accuses the president of Pioneer of attempting to influence OPEC during the Covid lockdowns to stabilize prices (which collapsed temporarily). The previous calls to investigate were totally fruitless waste of time and this one will be as well.
