Now that tips will be exempted from taxes up to the $25,000 annual limit, I’m compelled to ask……
What exactly qualifies as a tip? I get what it is in the restaurant business but other situations puzzle me. If your landscaper mows the yard and you hand him $300 without him invoicing you, is that a tip or a wage?
Who keeps count of the annual amount, and how? No 1099-NEC filing is required for amounts less than $600 still, right? So who will be keeping tabs of the “tips” given?
I’m glad for the no-tax rule but just curious how it will work on the accounting side.
