Union

I am ashamed for those that would say “you do this then I will help”. I am embarrassed for you. YUCK!

I will ask others who actually know what is going on with this union not to comment of this goofy remark. It's a waste of time to answer someone who obviously is in one of two catagories. One, a board member from another association or organization that is affraid real estate appraisers will wake up and say, "why the hell are we in this mess?" "too little to late! Two, one of those sitting behind a computer bi---ing and grumbling all the way and will ride the coat tails of others and try to take credit later. I am so embarrassed for this person.

Yep, it sounds like the union has brought us all together... m2:m2:m2:

One of the major turnoffs of unions is the peer pressure and dismissing of those who have different thoughts. You think AMCs dictate actions, wait until the union kicks in...

Therefore, our Union holds meetings every 4-6 weeks. You don't have to try and figure it out on your own, stop by on October 30 and expose yourself to the people who are putting a huge personal effort into helping you out. Then you can form your opinions based on something real, as opposed to advertisements by AMC's and statements from the banking lobby that pass themselves off as industry news and official government releases.

"You do this then I will help" Dah. Isn't that what the Union is selling? Wait that's not what the Union is selling. The Union is selling do this and I'll TRY to help because I might be able to get you an audience with the decision makers. Andrew Cuomo threw us appraisers under the bus to keep out an investigation of his pals and buddies at Fannie and Freddie. His pals and buddies receive vast political contributions from the AFL-CIO. I'm sure the President of the AFL-CIO and Guomo have each each others numbers on the speed dial. Reducating Cuomo isn't the problem. He knew exactly what he was doing. Getting him to the RIGHT thing is a whole different animal.

Most of us have our eyes wide open, we are living what is going on, we don't need the union to educate us to "reality".

We all want to get to the same place, for the most part, we just disagree on the path to get there. IMO a union would do greater harm to our future than good, but I already explained that in earlier posts so no use repeating it. We are not in a union yet, so we are still allowed to disagree and have different thoughts. :new_all_coholic:

What you do not seem to understand is that like me and many others we have donated our time and effort to make a difference. Allot of time and allot of effort. I am not compensated in this effort to get to the "same place". We are real estate appraisers just like you. What has been posted is not a difference of opinion but an attack on our time and sweat. If you or anyone else as I have stated in the past begins to donate your time and effort starting up the PAC or whatever else me and these others would be proud to be on the Senate floor side by side. So, do not attack and then say it's just a difference of opinion. Our heart and souls are in this weather you believe in it or not. Respect that others are also trying to make a difference. Your statements that many do not believe in this direction are unfounded because evidently many do. My free time answering questions and emails are my proof. I understand many have a difference of opinion. But what is the most important thing here is what you said, we are all trying to get to the same place. So why attack what others are pooring their hearts and souls into for your own enjoyment and frustrations? :leeann: It's the same people commenting negativity. List what it is you are doing with your time to make a difference. Not what you may or may not have done 10 or 20 years ago. Negativity and not one is listing what they are doing or have done to help in our current situation. This is what is embarrassing to me and really ticks me off. Start stating solutions!

When you can't argue the facts than I guess it is time to throw in the emotion and claim you are the victim of personal attacks. I am not attacking you or your committment or others like you who have put a tremendous amount of time into making a change. However working hard doesn't always cut it. If working hard was all you needed to do to succede than ditchdiggers would be millionaires. You have to work smart and I will give you a solution and yes it does involve the union. Go tell your local Union rep you have 1,200 ****ed off appraisers in MD. Tell him you believe you can get at least 400 to join the union if Cuomo gets rid of the AMC part of the HVCC. That would be 400 new union members in Maryland alone. Multiply that by 50 states and you've got 20,000 new union members. Some states more and some states less. Wouldn't the union love to have 20,000 new union members? I bet they would. Hell some of us might be willing to join a union just for the healthcare benifits! Who knows if this works for the appraisal industry it might work in other fields. You need to present this to the union as something we as appraisers can do for them and not so much as what they can do for us. It really can be a win - win situation if presented right.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. That's why you should come on October 30th and let your voice be heard.
