THANKS CONWAYBLUE FOR THE INFO.
ALSO OPENOFFICE.
I TOO USE THE FREEBIES--EXCEPT I Did not KNOW ABOUT GOOGLE SKETCH.
BEING AN OLD BOEING(1953) DRAFTSMAN IT IS FANTASTIC.

I ASSUME YOU ARE IN CONWAY ARKANSAS-I LIVED AT SPRINGFIELD FOR A FEW YEARS(1934-1949)

AGAIN, THANKS

If you go to avg's website it appears you have to pay for the new version. If you go to cnet in the download section its free.
Much like RealPlayer, read closely to get to the free version. It is not that they ever end the ability to use the free version, but users of the free version are required to upgrade when ever a new version is released. It just makes sense from their perspective to not work to maintain support for older products when they gave them away. Keep in mind it is not legal to use the free version on the computer one uses for business.

I found that the cnet download did not work. So I did a google search and went directly to grisoft at free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition and it worked just perfect.

I ASSUME YOU ARE IN CONWAY ARKANSAS

7th grade football in Conway is split into 2 teams. White and Blue. Screaming Conway Blue! was our battle cry during football for years.

I originally downloaded from the GRI site and the license was only good for 30 days before you had to pay or upgrade. Uninstalled it and went to the CNET/Download.com site and downloaded it, no expiration or license requirements.

No expiry here, direct from grisoft - http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition - this is the "full featured free antivirus only" product. I've been using it for years after I had all kinds of problems with Norton and McAfee. I tried others also and found AVG Free to be the least hassle and so far has done a better job - knock on wood.......

I sure hope you guys are right .. I just trashed Norton yesterday and downloaded AVG .. my subscription to Norton was up and I didnt want to spend $80 to renew.
So far so good.

I also highly recommend Virus Total for scanning individual files. Upload the file and the website will scan with 33 different virus packages and give the results of each.

PE,
You will NEVER regret getting rid of Norton. However, it is notorious for leaving all kinds of things installed in your computer, which continue to use resources, EVEN after you un-install it. There are free tools out there which will do a complete uninstall, but the Norton installer WILL NOT. You will notice MUCH improvement in performance.

Generally speaking, it is wise to exclude your appraisal software directory from being monitored. AVG free has toe ability to exclude directories.

I just purchased windows live one care it cost 149.00 per year for up to 3 computers. I have 3, anyway after 2 months it continues to run in the background it automatically updates, defrags, cleans registry checks for viruses 100% of the time.
So far I really like. I figured who knows there own product better than microsoft.
