Vision problems that come with age

I had cadirac surgery just over 1 year ago. I can see up close and far away. No glasses necessary. Only problem is that I see halos at night.

That's generally a symptom of cataracts.

Seeing halos around lights is not a disease, but it can be the first sign that something is not well with your eyes. This type of vision change can be a symptom of cataracts, glaucoma, migraine, dry eye disease, or another condition.

Macular degeneration. You don't want that. My 83 year old uncle can only see peripheral vision now. Nothing straight ahead without a giant magnifying glass.

The doctor said I would see halos. It is the type of lens that I had installed. I can see up close and far away. I don't have to wear glasses to drive or read.

The first I realized I had cataracts was when I looked up from the patio and saw 2 moons conjoined a-kilter. Another time, I was sitting under the street sign in Blythe and couldn't read it. Got the near-far-and-in-between lens and suddenly noticed my kitchen was a MESS! Different triple the price lens for they other eye. Then all the debris inside my eyes made my world look like raindrops stuck on a dry windshield, so had vitrectomies in both eyes, and now my vision is clear except for that one annoying 'dot' that the surgeon missed when he sucked out the vitreous. I do pretty well without glasses, but for tiny print, glasses make an improvement. Thank goodness for excellent surgeons and good lenses.

I visited the eye doctor this past weekend for my annual exam. I asked if anything could be done about my astigmatism. She looked at me rather oddly and said, "You don't have any astigmatism to speak of. We just tested that." She went on to ask if I spent a lot of time in front of a computer :) She said that if I used eye drops three times a day to keep my eyes from drying out it would likely eliminate what I thought was astigmatism.

Get to a Ophthalmologist MD-Fast- Halos are first sign of Glaucoma and if your cataracts are off and you still have them then good chance you have eye disease. Thats how I was diagnosed was Lights had halos around them. That was 15 years ago and now even though a surgery and medications my left eye is about half gone.

The quicker you get on top of it this the better chance of saving your vision and with medication those halos will mostly disappear unless the optic nerves are too damaged.

I am surprised they did the cataract surgery without testing for eye disease first. If you are normal most people have great vision after "cats" are removed. In my opinion something is not right and go to a different eye doctor ( not optometrist ) A Ophthalmologist and get a second opinion or you will be wearing a black eye patch on your left eye and look like a pirate but it does make you look tuff :)

The VA did my cataract surgery for free. Problem I had was one of my eyes has a stigmatism. Surgery was a breeze. The 1st one no problem. then you have to wait a period of time before they will do the 2nd eye. Here was the big Problem. Right after the 1st eye we all got hit with the covid restrictions So I had to wait a little more than a year before they did the 2nd eye. Something real important is the after surgery eyedrops & creamy stuff is very important you follow those directions. It is to keep from getting an infection and helps with healing.

Piece of cake really!
