I am glad I don't have to deal with all the ANSI to the nearest inch nonsense any longer. I think it is stupid and made up by someone in the GSE's who has never been an appraiser in the field and just needed something to justify his/her existence. Our comparables aren't measured to the nearest inch. Most assessors in my area measure to the nearest half foot or 1/4 foot. So if that is the assessor data why would we do that with the subject? And do you really think that 2 appraisers measuring the same house will come up with the same numbers? I seriously doubt it. And you can be sure from this discussion that scan to sketch sure isn't going to be. I remember it was good enough to be within 5% of an architectural drawing. And on complex houses that is even difficult.

And it is still that far off? That is totally unusable. Looks like they've got the "garbage in process" nailed down.

I get pretty good results using the exterior scan to sketch. Maybe off by one or two inches but that's mainly dot placement similar to Disto targeting. If your Disto doesn't hit the exact same spot you will get a different reading.

However the interior scan to sketch should result in the exact same measurements every time because you aiming at walls not corners. I've had wall measurements off by 2 feet and would never rely on the interior scan.
