What do you wear.

I have to say that an appraiser wearing a t-shirt and sandals is unprofessional. I had one do my parents home wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals. The guy looked like a hippy and honestly I did not like him. And the appraisal was ok (not great) but he was a total slacker. His inspection was lack-luster, and the whole look was sloppy.

If I'm appraising a home in a million dollar neighborhood, I put on my fake Rolex, and get my 1998 Ford Escort washed.

If I'm appraising a home in the ghetto, I'm wearing my 9 mm.

But in all seriousness, when was the last time you walked into the bank and seen the LO or teller wearing sandals and a tee-shirt. Wanna get paid like a professional, dress like a professional. You never really know who the homeowner is, or who the homeowner knows.......Could be one of the best or worst contacts you ever made.

I wear flip flops and a loin cloth. Sometimes I wear a condom if the house is dirty.

Which begs the question. Do you sandal wearers take off your shoes and go barefoot during the inspection? Or do you wear the socks with sandals?

We keep our feet looking so ugly that the homeowner prefers us to wear the sandals.

When doing farm appraisals remember to wear your Levi's with the skoal ring in the back pocket.

Remember, looks are not everything. I also owned a large car dealership and found out that very often, the one person coming in looking like a slob with not a penny in their pockets would pay cash for a $40,000 automobile. My sales people learned fast to treat everyone with the same respect.

Unfortunately, in our society, we are too pre occupied with looks and impressions. Again, dress appropriately for the job. But don't be fooled by the dress the person is wearing. Look at the credentials, look at the product and then judge their work, not their appearance.

BTW, what is wrong with a Hippie. They are good people too. Sometimes I look like a red neck and I even carry. So here is gun carrying hippie who also is a darn good appraiser.

Cheers, back to a beer.

I guess we don't want to go into who has tattoos and where and what they are? GRIN. That really could be unprofessional.
