What do you wear.

I always wear a uniform and a fake badge, even if its 110 degrees. My mentor was a stickler for details.

If things don't pick up, I'll be wearing this.

I DONT SEE THE CHEW CAN

Just stare at the picture for about 10 minutes. It's like Where's Waldo.

I googled eApprai$eIT and this was the first link that popped up. Weird.

I fear one day I'll get a nudist camp to appraise

Remember, looks are not everything. I also owned a large car dealership and found out that very often, the one person coming in looking like a slob with not a penny in their pockets would pay cash for a $40,000 automobile. My sales people learned fast to treat everyone with the same respect.

Unfortunately, in our society, we are too pre occupied with looks and impressions. Again, dress appropriately for the job. But don't be fooled by the dress the person is wearing. Look at the credentials, look at the product and then judge their work, not their appearance.

BTW, what is wrong with a Hippie. They are good people too. Sometimes I look like a red neck and I even carry. So here is gun carrying hippie who also is a darn good appraiser.

Cheers, back to a beer.

I guess we don't want to go into who has tattoos and where and what they are? GRIN. That really could be unprofessional.
I'm hoping that "What is wrong with a hippie?" question is rhetorical. And I have tattoos myself. One of them even :::GASP::: can be seen when I wear short sleeves.

I sure hope not, I just had "Webbed Feet" inked as a tramp stamp!:icon_mrgreen:

I have always taken the point of view that to the client's client, we are the client. How is that for confusing? Seriously, how many times when you meet the owner/borrower, fo they say, "Are you the appraiser from XXXX Bank?" No matter how we explain it, we are from that bank to that person. How do they dress at that bank? That is how you should dress. I do not care how good of work you do, if you look like a slob, it will get back to the LO's and they will not want you representing their company at the borrower's property.

That said, I also have a tattoo, though when in short sleves, it cant be seen. I also do not take out my earing.

I agree with Potts. I'm wicked professional.

I think appraiser's wardrobes are territorial - when you appraise in the city you tend to dress like a city slicker. When you appraise in farm country you tend to dress like farmers. When you live in the hot and humid areas, it seems shorts and sandals are an acceptable attire.

In my area if I wore a professional suit I would make the homeowners nervous.

What do you wear/require employees to wear at an inspection?

I think the term "presentable attire" is the most appropriate answer for this question.
