Doug,

What took you so long? Been out of town?

Nah .... I just get tired of posting the same thing over and over .... this makes about the 1000th time someone has started a thread about "what kind camera ........" .... I think I am gonna find a link to my first thread and just start posting it.

Did you ever get yours, btw??

I create a directory called ACTIVE (so that it is near the top in MY Documents), within that I create subdirectories that are numbered by my appraisal order + name...so, ACTIVE > 4324-Billups is a subdirectory. Using Explore (Windows explorer), I find my drive with the memory stick (I: in this case) and find my XXX001.jpg numbers. (which can be sequenced, does not always have to start over with 001) and move them to ACTIVE>4324-Billups. Once there, I inspect them with viewer, and rename them...it will go something like this for a house....24-FRONT.JPG, 24-REAR.JPG, 24-STREET.JPG. Comps go into a photo directory under CFORMS>PHOTOS and i ID them by town (first letter and street address....just enough to ID. For a comp in Gentry, G-707Cherokee.jpg. Any that need edited I used to edit with Spryviewer, absolutely the fastest editing software ever, but alas it will not run on XP, and the program is dead. I now edit mostly with a $10 photo editor from a discount office place or Paperport 9, my scanner software.

After a few weeks, the subdirectories are moved to a CD disk or zipdisk. I generally delete the pix which are still embedded in the program. The CD will have a lot of files all sorted by number 4324-X,4325-X,4236-X. Relatively quick

Doug,

Nope...Last month I was at Wall Mart and looked at a Z2. I was surprised and disappointed at how it was made mostly out of plastic. I didn't expect that. every camera I've got is good jap quality and made of metal. Is your'n (southern speak) made of plastic or was this a special made for WallyWorld cheaper version? The only good thing was it had a asperic lens. But, this Pollock didn't bite. Still is...still shop-in.

I bought mine through Cameta Camera in Amityville,NY. Dave Shane up there has treated me more than right on the purchase of my Z1 and my Nikon 885. The Z1 does have some metal in the frame and the upper casing but the main body appears to be hi impact plastic with a rubberized coating. I presume this is to reduce weight due the superior lens assembly and SLR mechanisms. I have been 100% satisfied with mine and been through the weeds with it. Dropped it inside an REO once where I was having to go in through a window and ran into a wasps nest. Killed them all with the screen that I took off and then retrieved my camera and finished the job. It's taken a few tumbles off the truck seat too. Still clicking and ticking. No problems at all in a little over a year of use. Checked the counter today at over 10K photos.

Doug,

I'm gonna look again, at a camera store. the one I saw a Wall Mart might have been one of the Z10 cheaper models. Everybody seems to to happy with their Z1 & 2 purchases. Is there a Z3 yet?

If it floats, Fly's or Frigs, rent it...cheaper in the long run. And, a hell of a lot less aggravation.

There is a Z3.... all black ... more pixels ... higher price ....

Doug,

Thanks, I'll have to Google for it. I'll mail you your standard commission...If I purchase it. Watch your mail box for the plain brown envelope. (Some of the pages may be stuck together)

SONY Mavica's all the way...low res to keep file size down, plus floppy option keeps it easy - one disk per inspection typically & can pop into any PC without wires, readers, or special software required. B)
