What Type Of Digital Camera Do You Like?

I really like my Olympus C-5060. It's not small, not cheap.
I'm a fan of the 27-110 mm extra-wide lens. It uses Compactflash AND Xd cards at the same time. Costs about $600. Takes great photos. It has more settings than I've learned. The battery is exclusive to the camera but has lasted three weeks using the camera every day.

You can move the display to any angle, even towards yourself. Kinda unnecessary but cool. The night setting has saved me on early morning or late evening comps on my way home from work when I'm doing those rural acreage difficult appraisals.

This is a great camera.

Put me in the Mavica crowd. Tried A Nikon 4300. too small, cannot read the dials without magnifying glass. Fell out of car seat at least 2 doz. times, so at least it is durable. Bulky, neck strapped & handy, Mavica lays flat in seat, never is dropped. Screw a $50 Kenko .5 lens in and you can stand on the front step and pix the whole house. Use the.4 lens and you can fisheye the whole image. Can use lens on 4300 with adaptor. Use a Polarizing filter - helps contrast, 37mm fits Nikon adaptor or Sony lens direct.

I have used Kodak since the old DX40 days (still have than one somewhere). My favorite is the DC210. It has a glass lens as opposed to some of the newer plastic ones. 29 ~ 58 mechanical zoom. I get 147 good quality pics on a 15 meg card. The batteries are ACCU rechargables and since I have two cameras ... there are three sets of batteries, one in each camera and one in the charger at all times.

Additionally, I carry an extra set of regular AA batteries and an extra memory card in my glove box. Can't tell you how many times I have left the card in the SanDisk reader on my desk. My spare camera is left in the car as a backup.

I buy my cameras on EBay. My first DC210 plus was $499 new at a camera shop. Now I buy them used on EBay for less than $100 and that usually includes a couple of memory cards and rechargable batteries. I also found a neoprene camera case at Waxman for about $12. I really protects the camera and clips on my belt. Made by Op/TechUSA.

My brother uses a Mavica and likes it a lot. For me it is too big and awkward. He likes using a floppy and then throwing the disk in the work file when he is finished. My hard drive is large enough I can keep 1,000s of photos on my computer as well as embedded in the appraisal report on CD.

Most of the newer digital cameras are good, for me size would be important. Also check out the flash. I do lots of interior photos and a good flash is a must.

I don’t like the Mavicas with the cards because they only have a X3 zoom.

I use the Mavica 2.0. Love the large screen for these tired old eyes and the floppy has its advantages. Although, I just purchased the Sony DCS F828 8.0 with 28-135 Zeiss lens. Two days old so I'm still playing with all the buttons. I don't think I'll be using it for appraising. B)

My requirements in a digital camera are pretty simple. I work in an urban environment and have to have a 28-mm wide-angle lens. We have a lot of overcast in my area and low-light capability is also important. I'm cheap and don't want to spend over $400.

For the past 5 years, I have used a Canon A50. It still works remarkably well, but I figure I'll probably need a new camera before long.

At present, there only seem to be a few cameras that meet my requirements. The first if a Fuji E500, which can be purchased on-line for around $220. I have looked at this camera in a store and the ergonomics are great. Unfortunately, early reviews have indicated that the low-light focusing ability is subpar.

The other cameras that meet my requirements are the Canon S60 and S70. If you search really hard, the S70 can be purchased for around $375 and the reviews of this camera have been great. It's a 7-mp camera which is way overkill but that really shouldn't matter if the price is right. Some people have been unhappy with the ergonomics of this camera, though.

I looked at the Nikon 5400 and the Olympus C-5060, which have 28- and 27-mm wide angle lenses. They are nice cameras but are too large and costly for me.

I've been hoping to hear a report from someone who has purchased the Fuji but haven't found anyone yet. I'll hold on until a little more information is available.

BTW, I have found the DP Review site (dpreview.com) to be an excellent resource on digital cameras. This site has the specs on just about every digital camera available and many quite informative reviews.
