Starting another project. We are replacing the carpet in our bedroom and the upstairs hallway and maybe the lower (main) level family room.
We thought about wood but I have seen a couple places now with ceramic tile that looks like wood and think it is pretty sharp. It appears to be the new up and coming trend.
In our master bath we put in heated flooring because part of the master is above our garage and because it is a bathroom. The wife absolutely loves the heated floor. I wouldn't put the heated floor in the bedroom as it is above the family room.
I will most likely put in heated floor in the family room because it is above crawl space.
So far I have learned that you should space the tiles close together (1/8th inch) and that the grout should be darker than the tile. I have seen ceramic wood in two commercial buildings and in one home. They all looked good to me.
We are swaying toward a Tigerwood look as I have seen that in some upper end homes and it is impressive.
Anyone see ceramic "wood" tiling in homes and what was your impression? We will most likely go with 6" x 24".
