Which one of our appraisal expenses should we cut?

You probably have some of this stuff already at home. Watch the overhead and be careful of the start up expenses. Start accumulating now, so when it hits you will be part way there. Good luck.

To slightly redirect this thread, yet continue in the same vein: what are the minimum needs/requirements to run a residential appraisal business?

I ask this as I feel my position at our firm will likely end up one the cutbacks, and I am presently weighing my options... I realize this may be one of the worst times in the history of appraising for an appraiser to go out on his own, but this step will be purely out of necessity…

My list includes (compiled after reading this thread):
- Home Office
- PO Box
- Computer (with monitors)
- Internet Service
- Printer/Scanner
- Cell Phone
- FAX Device
- Appraisal Software
- Marshall & Swift Cost Handbook
- MLS subscription
- Business License
- E & O Insurance
- Car/Transportation
- Camera
- Tape
- Graph Paper
- Printing Paper
- Clients

What am I missing??

Hey Grandpa, kill the tape and get a Disto.
