Politically speaking, I'm wondering if the prevailing public opinion on this event eventually plays out similarly to how the public responds to one of the horrific mass shooting events. In the moment and for a period of several weeks passions are running high and the political types are trying to exploit those passions. But 6 or 8 weeks later people return to their normal state of mind and their reasoning kicks back in.

I think it unrealistic to think that rich liberals will somehow convert into becoming rich conservatives. It's hard to imagine how much pain and loss it would take to move them off their virtue spiral. They're still going to consider themselves to be morally and intellectually superior to everyone else regardless of what's going on around them.

And that is precisely why they lost in such a spectacular fashion. Arrogance without basis isn't a good foundation to build anything on.

Though Biden was there on the ground almost immediately, its going to take time, effort and money from many sources to put parts of LA County back together again.
Humans are resilient, if nothing else.

After destruction, the seeds of renewal and re-birth will rise and create a new environment there. One of my granddaughters is soon to graduate from university to become an architect like her mom. I sent her the article re: the architect in the seemingly indestructible house and how new ideas are needed in design and materials. She responded immediately about the challenges for new, creative thinking, and acknowledged this cataclysm will encourage new solutions in the field.

Maybe California should hang onto their $472 billion they send to the feds. Or even just the $83 biliion in excess that they pay after what they receive is removed. Then Tuberville will have to figure out how to fill the $50-$64 billion gap in the Alabama state budget.

The political posturing is out of control and if they keep it up the results will be counterproductive to what the conservatives think they're trying to do. California deserves the same approach as the feds apply everywhere else like Hawaii and Florida. No more, no less.

Okay, - in addition to airing your resentment of "rich liberals" you named me - fine, no problem!

I have friends who are conservatives - two of my best friends are conservatives -I am fine and even agree with a number of conservative viewpoints.-

My issue is with the MAGA mindset - the segment that embraces and spreads a massive falsehood like Trump's false " the election was rigged" , and who instantly parrot back distortions and falsehoods -example immediacy following Hurricane Helene, they were on social media and hres as well, spreading the falsehood that FEMA was only going to pau ot $750 to each victim of Helne because they were broke due ot spending on illegals. They later saw tht was not true, that the $750 was the initial cash FEMA emergency py out and now Helene victims will get tens of billions in aid.

It is not that I think I think of myself as better or smarter than they are - however, I do think respect for facts and evidence is better than believing and spreading lies and falsehoods and baseless consoray theories, .

Let me predict the inevitable response - "democrats lie - what about Biden?" because all that they do is give an excuse and provide a what aboutism - instead of taking responsibility.,

I can live with liberals with no problems (if they keep their hands off my kids). They're the ones who think they cannot live with me.
