I remember how traumatized the kids were, they had no clothing, no toys, nothing familiar,

Yeah, seen that several times. Remember my mother and grandmother giving feather pillows and hand-made quilts to families who burned out. And the men gathered at the local community building to decide what the family needed and the kids' sizes so they wouldn't duplicate too much, and they went to town and bought what they didn't have at home. This was time when we had things like canned goods from the garden, potatoes were kept all winter in a dark building, hams were hung in the smoke house.

We had something called Home Economics clubs that all the community women belonged to. Those women pitched in and baked pies, cooked meals while canvassing anyone with an old house that could be rented out. Even further back in time, it was the local men who built houses back. My grandfather and his best friend framed many a house and roofed even more. I have a copy of that friends diary that he kept with his daily activities and frequently mentions things like "Arthur and I roofed Ms. Butler's house. It was windy but warm." When my foster uncles father died only to have his mother die six weeks later, it was the younger men who gathered in the cemetery and dug the graves by hand while older men built a simple wooden coffin. You were wrapped in a blanket, placed in the coffin, and buried with a few simple words spoken over the grave.

Maybe he is thinking of trading LA for Greenland.

Okay, - in addition to airing your resentment of "rich liberals" you named me - fine, no problem!

I have friends who are conservatives - two of my best friends are conservatives -I am fine and even agree with a number of conservative viewpoints.-

My issue is with the MAGA mindset - the segment that embraces and spreads a massive falsehood like Trump's false " the election was rigged" , and who instantly parrot back distortions and falsehoods -example immediacy following Hurricane Helene, they were on social media and hres as well, spreading the falsehood that FEMA was only going to pau ot $750 to each victim of Helne because they were broke due ot spending on illegals. They later saw tht was not true, that the $750 was the initial cash FEMA emergency py out and now Helene victims will get tens of billions in aid.

It is not that I think I think of myself as better or smarter than they are - however, I do think respect for facts and evidence is better than believing and spreading lies and falsehoods and baseless consoray theories, .

Let me predict the inevitable response - "democrats lie - what about Biden?" because all that they do is give an excuse and provide a what aboutism - instead of taking responsibility.,

MAGA are not conservative, they are not really Republicans; they are hiding under the R umbrella and kicking out the true conservatives and Republicans. They are followers of Trump and will march in lock step behind him. If they were really conservative, they would not be coming after Liz Cheney. MAGA is doing what ever their dear leader tells them to.

In some cultures dog meat is not a bad thing. Not here, but many cultures eat dog meat.

And then some MAGA folks wonder why they are not liked - but at this point IMO many do not want to be liked, and take every opportunity to be as offensive as possible, wearing their belligerence and intolerance like a badge - I suppose in their minds it makes them the "Real Americans "

Seeing this at the highest level of office, America will lose any vestiges of prestige or example for the world it used to have - that was a valuable currency.
