In shocking news, deaths from the regular old flu and pneumonia are way down! Or are they just coded as COVID?

That is distorting the data immensely. The rationale, of course, is that Covid leads to a pneumonia in the lung and that, in turn, kills you. Question is whether the pneumonia killed you or the Covid. As for the long term consequences there are some indications that small blood clogs in the lungs may occur weeks after you are "apparently" over Covid. Whether this is a temporary condition, or indication of long term health issues isn't clear at all.

Cases are higher, because we have increased testing. The testing is horribly inaccurate and hospitals are incentivized to code everything as COVID which gets them more government funding.

No 300,000+ people have NOT died of COVID. It is doubtful that 200,000 have died with COVID because of the inaccurate testing and aforementioned hospital money grab.

Unless you are over 80 or already have one foot in the grave due to poor health, your chance of dying from COVID is very, very low.

If you do NOT have symptoms, the chance of passing COVID to another person is less than 1%.
If you do have symptoms, the chance of passing COVID to another person is only 18%.

Addressing the Mask Karens, every mandate has consequences. Over one billion masks have entered our oceans in 2020.

I am seeing a lot more people who are visibly sick in public hiding behind masks because of the false sense of security that masks give the masses.

The Left Coast Looney States have shut down small businesses since November and many have permanently closed.

Eviction moratoriums have meant unpaid rent and owners have to settle for only 80% when the government (your tax dollars) decide to make up the difference.

Meanwhile, the consequences of these lockdowns have increased deaths from drug overdoses and suicide which are now greater than the actual deaths from COVID.

Also, these new gene therapy shots (Not an actual vaccine) will not keep you from catching or spreading COVID.

Instead of looking at raw number of positive cases it is better to also look at positivity rate. That way, number of tests doesn't skew the data. Based on preliminary data, total deaths in the US is up regardless of the cause of death. Most likely the increase is due in part to COVID. The death rate as of 11/2020 is the highest since 1980. Covid was the 3rd highest cause of death behind heart disease and cancer. Yes flu and pneumonia deaths were down, but they're peak season starts in December, which is after the date of the most recent report. They are anticipated to be lower because of mask wearing and social distancing. Deaths such as overdoses and suicides are called Deaths of Despair and they are up to total about 5% of the total deaths in 2020, as of November. Actual # of Deaths of Despair is 150,000 and Covid deaths are 260,000 again as of 11/2020.

And yes, your chance of dying of this disease is fairly low, your chance of getting really sick is not low. A "light" case can mean about 2 weeks in bed because you are so exhausted. And no one really knows the long term consequences of it.

That's what viruses do. They mutate. Nothing new. The covid-19 virus may be mutating quicker due to the high rate of infection.

Just wait. I forgot you were a doctor. This spring will get worse. I think based on the professionals that the mask helps prevent spread. It really don't help the person wearing the mask. I hope by spring it is a little better. I worry about hospitals at this point between now and spring . Morgues too.

I believe the CDC came out recently and said that masks do protect the wearer, but I don't remember if it is the same as the protection to others.

As long as their are unanswered questions. There is no true scientific consensus. The so called science has been too dynamic. The so called scientific consensus you refer to is more of a created consensus. Since the vast majority of dissenting opinions are almost impossible to find. Most of the dissenting information has been blocked or severely minimized from the public by the internet search engines and social media. Not a conspiracy theory. Some doctors have lost their jobs because they disagree with the so called consensus.
