A wise man once said "The only ship that will not sail is a partnership".

NAR and AI make as good of a match as the NRA and PETA. Dissimilar interests, but partnering looks good in a PC world run amok.

You don't think they might be posturing do you Frank? Hell somebody might actually start asking what role the Real Estate agents played in the current debacle if the NAR spin police don't get out front of the wave of bad news.:new_smile-l:

Clearly the NAR and AI have common interests upon which they can agree. But the bulk of legislation relates to issues where the two groups RE agents and Appraisers diverge. I frequently get letters from NAR urging me to support this or that agenda which is counter productive for the appraiser. NAR certainly wants to deflect anger towards them as they are part and parcel with inflating values and pushing investors to buy homes to resell for a profit.

While we're at it, why don't we bring mortgage brokers into the fray???

:)

It's good to see there are still some who understand the need for INDEPENDENCE. Now is the perfect opportunity to stress the importance of impartial, professional valuation services. Our industry has little to gain by being absorbed into a large association of salespeople.

Don't do it NAR they are just trying to steal your data.

The proposal on the table is AFFILIATION. The Bylaws and Constitution of the National Association of Realtors provides for Institutes, Societies and Councils. These are separately incorporated organizations with their own governance structure, elected officers and directors and separate budgets. Institutes, Societies and Councils determine their own dues. Institutes, Societies and Councils develop their own policies and procedures.

No organization is being absorbed into another. No organization is merging with another.

It's best to avoid characterizing this proposal as something it is not.
