All of this carping about the low fees and what other appraisers are charging sounds like a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds complaining that someone else got more juice than they did.[/FONT]

Time to grow up.

It's destructive to the industry, Richard. I don't understand why you do not see that! Your analogy is terribly flawed. Standing up for reasonable fees is the American Way. Offering half price fees is price fixing in reverse. Starve out the competition and you will have the market to yourself and be able to charge whatever you want to. It also plays into the hands of the AMCs. Are YOU one of the sell-outs?

I agree with Richard. If my competition wanted to work for free I'd let them.

There doesn't seem to be a point to getting and ulcer over something you can't control.

It somes as a package --- throat-cutting the competition and breaking the law concerning supervisor/trainees. At least in this case.

I find it interesting that if you pay $0 at the door for an income statement there is no charge .. however, if they bill for the report on the HUD it costs $50 ????

So... aside from just complaining about the issue, what can you Florida appraisers do to correct the situation? These guys, like all of us, need to make a buck. Working for $45 an hour and having work versus $90 an hour and not, is be a simple decision to make. If they produce shoddy work, they are not likely to survive, regardless. I'm not sure I understand the rational behind not allowing a "trainee" to own an appraisal business. Is this law specific to trainees or does it cover anyone who is not a certified appraiser?
