Ever Wondered Who's Selling Us Out?

So... aside from just complaining about the issue, what can you Florida appraisers do to correct the situation? These guys, like all of us, need to make a buck. Working for $45 an hour and having work versus $90 an hour and not, is be a simple decision to make. If they produce shoddy work, they are not likely to survive, regardless. I'm not sure I understand the rational behind not allowing a "trainee" to own an appraisal business. Is this law specific to trainees or does it cover anyone who is not a certified appraiser?
===============================================
The law is specific to trainee's in FL since we do not have the "licensed" appraiser category anymore. A non-appraiser can own an appraisal business and hire certified appraisers to work for them, but a registered trainee cannot. I think the issue here has to do with where the office is located in relation to where they live. The law states that a trainee must live in a county that is contiguous with the supervisor's stated place of business.

TAF and state boards are in control. TAF serves
lenders interests. We didn't get sold. We have an
excess supply of appraisers because lenders, god forbid,
didn't want a 'shortage.' Lenders like an
excess supply of appraisers because they
can shop for value and keep appraisal fees
low.

Its just not working out as well as they
planned.

How many times have we all posted here about AMC's dissing us by paying 50% of a typical fee? Well, if you ever needed evidence that some appraisers are voluntarily destroying the profession, just email me at aswain@cfl.rr.com and I'll gladly send you the link for a local firm who advertises their fee schedule with 50% of a typical fee for a 1004. No charge for a Rent Schedule and no charge for an Operating Expense Report. AND they promise 24-hour turn-around. :new_all_coholic:

Pam's on the case and she's pizzed!

.

So, Pam is the fee police as well now.?

I thought that must have been a mistake, but you're right, it's all there in black & white.

I sent an e-mail voicing my displeasure at they're making the trade essentially worthless in the eyes of the lending community.

Dave..

I bet they boast that they get full fee from all their clients.
