IDK what history you've been looking at but conservatives are the ones who stand in front of social progress. All of the arguments being made against trans people were made against gay people. In 10 years nobody will care, and the ones that do will be labelled as bigots. Just like with gay marriage. Just like with interracial marriage, just like with women's rights....

Collectivism just makes sense for so many issues. Collectivism saves lives. The USA comes around eventually and it will on socialism too. European countries banned interior lead paint in the early 1900s. France, Belgium and Austria in 1909. The Capitalists and conservative politicians in America knew it was unsafe, but they were against the ban. Profits over people in the USA. Rugged individualism! I want to paint my baby's crib with lead paint and who are you to tell me otherwise?
If you're such a true believer then go live in a commune. Work hard regardless of how much you get back so as to support the takers like Bernie, on the basis of what he needs rather than what he contributes.

What are you geniuses going to do after everyone decides they're just as apathetic about the transformers as they are about each other? I know, I know, don't tell me. The next group of disenfranchised, marginalized and oppressed victims in the intersectional stack are the pedos - wht your kind are now preaching we should be referring to as "minor attracted persons" because "pedos" is too judgemental.

And then after that it will be the "animal attracted persons", and then you'll find yourselves fresh out of designated victims to white knight for. Then what?

I can't wait for the EurVags to surrender to the Russians. They deserve each other.

... By the time push comes to shove, my neighbor's interests will ALWAYS be subordinate to those of my family.

Interesting, I have 6 more or less adjacent neighbors. Your statement has to be false.

"ALWAYS be subordinate" means what? When those other neighbors can indeed cause you so much grief? Tit for tat. Each neighbor thinks pretty much like you - their interests are more important to them than yours.

You get these interesting conflicts where Tit-for-Tat prevails.

If you like to rev up your engine to 100+ decibels several times a week so that it interrupts work-from-home Zoom meetings, you might be sued by more than one neighbor. Such a lawsuit could impact your family's interests. Or if your daughter throws a wild party with 200 high school kids getting drunk and noisy in the backyard - that could have the neighbors calling the police out to quell the ongoings.

These feedback mechanisms. They do exist and they are often very direct and very fast.

So the statement above is of course total nonsense. You do have to get along with the community or collective.

Just like on this little forum. If you don't watch out for other people's interests, sometimes at the expense of your own, you may suffer consequences. It is easy to see you tread far more cautiously than I do. So, again, your statement is nonsense. You yourself should know that all to well.

I suppose you are really talking about people in general - and there are people in the population who do occasionally forget all about the surrounding collective and wind up being sued or spending some time behind bars - or paying a fine.

I'd rather talk about the science or managing such collectives in an optimal way.

Trump, for example, was correct in many respects. Unfortunately, he has some kind of personality disorder and can't get anything done without a tremendous expenditure of energy to overcome the wrath of his crazy enemies, - whom he more or less created.

In my opinion its Time for moderators to shut this thread down as it no longer deals with the OP Question. Move it into water cooler :)

Read for content. What's under discussion are the economic and political systems. My comment wasn't an expression of opposition or hostility to my neighbor, only that I owe my family more than I owe my neighbors. And the State.

That seemed pretty clear to me.

Of course I wasn't told this when I was hired. It does take me about an hour to complete each one and am often working while clocked out to meet expectations. There is no pressure to meet value, just pressure to produce. As TomD said, I am probably making them $1000/day. I took the job on false promises and am now stuck for now due to needing to keep the medical insurance. Anyone that has an expensive chronic illness understands this.
How in the hell are you complying within the framework of USPAP in an hour per appraisal report? This whole thread seems like a joke.

It's a thread full of hyperbole. I know somebody who cranks out 80 residential appraisals in a month. He does it by working non-stop, all the time. He types reports every saturday morning. Routinely gets to the office at 2am. He definitely cuts corners, but his reports are good.

An in-house appraisal gig I applied for had a minimum quota of 20 per month, but that was for a bank and not an AMC. Same work though. And you couldn't work overtime.

I care more about my family than I do my neighbor. But my family is doing very well. Thankfully we are in a position to be able to help others. My mom volunteers still. My dad used to, but he works too much and his health isn't 100% anymore

Any report can comply with the framework of USPAP- How long it takes t complete a report is really more about how complex it is and what is the Engagement and SOW. Most serious USPAP Errors are commited without the appraiser ever-even knowing it unless a report is reviewed by his State Board, and most can make an entire career and are never reviewed by a State Board.

the AMC is like a virus, it needs a host, makes you sick, and the best prevention is to be social distanced :rof:
