Obama's Website Solves World's Energy and Food Crisis

Barack Obama has unveiled a new plan for equitable consumption and distribution of global energy, aimed to level the playing field and give Americans a realistic chance to become accepted as equals by members of the global community. "If you were born a sheepherder in a nomadic village in Sub Saharan Africa, why shouldn't you be getting the same quotas of gasoline, food, and electricity as an American consumer?" explains Iona Morningwood, Senior Policy Advisor on matters of resource allowance for the Obama campaign.

The new plan is centered around a hi-tech website that will allow Americans quickly and conveniently to calculate their budgets for fuel, food, and energy consumption, which they will then be obligated to submit to an impartial UN panel of international experts. The panel will review every submission within a two-month period, after which it will instruct the US authorities to turn on the heat, water, or electricity in the homes of those Americans whose energy consumption does not exceed the limits established by the government of Zimbabwe.

According to Iona Morningwood, ever since Senator Obama announced that "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," his offices have been swamped with calls from concerned Americans seeking international acceptance and approval.

"Their questions range from the size of an automobile they can drive to the temperature they should allow in their dwellings, to Global Warming, to whether they can get extra fries with their burger," said Morningwood. "When we were no longer able to process the questions, we set up this website that automatically generated all the correct answers. It was only logical that we eventually took it to the next level, involving expert advice and mandatory compliance.

A pilot study is underway testing a prototype version. Kevin Olgermester-Stubb, an Obama supporter and one of the first users of the new system, remains enthusiastic. "I was pretty sure they wouldn't allow me to use real beef hamburgers for my Memorial Day picnic, but they did - as long as I served an equal number of veggie burgers and my guests arrived by hybrid vehicles. It's nice to be part of the solution for a change!" he said glowingly.

Another near term objective is to establish a 24-7 phone bank in case some Americans exceed their equitably allotted budget and they don't have a pedal-powered computer with internet access. "We need to provide them a means to submit budgets and obtain approval from the panel when they don't have electricity," explains Morningwood.

Obama's advisor justified the urgent need for change in American energy and resource usage by saying that it has long been perceived as being disproportionate when compared with that of other countries. She provided several examples of manufacturing sector responses to the problem of chronic excess in consumption by the American citizen (see sidebar).

Mr. Obama has received international acclaim for advancing the premise that everything that Americans discover, build, buy, rent, lease, or barter for, has been stolen from the other peoples of the world and ultimately harms the environment.

Defiant Obama to fight warming and terror with sunscreen

While in France today to tackle the real threat of global climate change, Team-Obama announced a new strategy that will immediately deal with serious issue of global warming and the less serious but more exaggerated threat of world-wide terrorism.

The Department of Defense along with the State Department has been working on a new weapon of war that will be deployed to the Middle East. The weapon, code named OBAMA-TONE, is the strongest sunscreen repellent known to man.

Hundreds of thousands of bottles of OBAMA-TONE are to be airdropped by American bombers into ISIS-held territories as early as next week. If the operation goes as planned the administration fully expects ISIS fighters to lay down their arms and lotion up their arms with the new global warming strength sunscreen.

Administration officials believe that glaring rays of uninhibited UV radiation have so angered those in the world's hottest regions that outrage over dark tan lines and hot sand has driven many to take up the cause to fight a worldwide Jihad against the polluters.

The burka, which was believed to be a symbol of women oppression by religious fanaticism, is now believed by administration officials to be nothing more than UV resistant outerwear.

When all goes well and violence is subdued in the Middle East, President Obama plans to airdrop OBAMA-TONE on any American cities with a yearly heat average over 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

When questioned in passing by a rigorous reporter on the new strategy, Mr. Obama simply said that the American response is "an act of defiance that proves nothing will deter us."

COP21 Talks Delayed – US Threatens To Walk Out Of Paris Talks If Financial Obligations Made Legally Binding

The White House's COP 21 goals: less climate idealism, more political realism


The United States’ refusal to make internationally binding its ambitious pollution targets at the Cop21 climate talks in Paris isn’t a sign of Barack Obama’s lack of political will, but a reflection of the legal limits of his authorities and the political realities of what other nations will commit to doing.

Obama has proposed a legally binding agreement applicable to all nations without binding emissions targets. That approach isn’t ideal, but it’s politically and legally achievable – and a massive step forward for climate action.

US law allows its president to approve some international agreements without the Senate. These are called “executive agreements” and they are exceptionally common: the United States enters into about 94% of its international agreements this way.

Obama has relied on executive authorities to push through climate regulations domestically much the same way. In its second term, the Obama administration has used existing domestic laws to launch a new climate initiative about every five days, according to the White House. This patchwork approach is working – with the United States on track to meet the 2020 climate goals.

In addition to these domestic legal constraints, the political reality is that the American people and Congress – Republicans and Democrats alike – would not support an agreement that was legally binding on the United States in ways that were not also binding on China and India. The president knows that there is likely no way that India, in particular, would accept having its pollution pledges binding under international law. As a consequence, the United States remains politically unwilling to consider making US pledges binding.

What matters most is that countries back their targets with the force of law domestically. Whereas the international community has no international climate police, the United States government can and does impose fines and even criminal penalties on polluters that disobey domestic environmental laws. If other countries take the same approach then Paris can succeed despite its imperfections.

Rift emerges between rich nations, others at climate talks

China's deputy chief negotiator stood firm Friday on his nation's demand that rich countries should assume most responsibility for the costs and argued against an agreement that sets too-tough goals for weaning the world off using oil, gas and coal.

The talks, originally scheduled to end Friday, dragged into an extra day as the French hosts said they needed more time to overcome disputes.

Liu Zhenmin, deputy chief of the Chinese delegation, argued against sharply limiting the number of degrees the planet warms this century, because that would involve huge lifestyle and economic changes.

"We need heating. We need air conditioning. You need to drive your car," he said.

Ban Ki-moon said Friday that negotiators are still in disagreement over how far-reaching the accord should be and who should pay for damages wrought by global warming.

China's Liu said negotiators don't understand what is meant by "neutrality" and argued for an even softer "low-carbon" goal.

The biggest challenge is to define the responsibilities of wealthy nations, which have polluted the most historically, and those of developing economies including China and India, where emissions are growing the fastest.

The draft didn't resolve how to deal with demands from vulnerable countries to deal with unavoidable damage from rising seas and other climate impacts. One option said such "loss and damage" would be addressed in a way that doesn't involve liability and compensation — a U.S. demand.
