How many of you other appraisers have a similar situation to Jennifer in terms of threats to discontinue work by these AMC's, Lenders, and others? I believe Jennifer has a great case that could be turned into one massive class action suit.

Get rid of the yellow, stiffen your backs, take a stand
As more of you take this stand, the better off you all will be!!!!!

I have been reading the threads talking about restructuring and consolidation of some of the institutions out there. What happens in this instance when someone files a lawsuit and the company's may have restructured by the time the suit can go to court? Lawsuits can go on for lengthy time periods before actually going before a judge, so what happens if a company is completely disassembled by that time? What happens to the case?

Unless the company goes into bankruptcy, the restructuring won't change the liability of an on-going suit (even bankruptcy proceedings do not change the liability of certain lawsuits as I understand it); of course, if the company is financially insolvent, the victory may be a moral one only! :new_smile-l:

Very true- and that good fortune continues with her working for our firm! :new_smile-l:
Denis,
Was she doing 2 or 3 appraisals per day all by herself or she had other appraises/trainees working for her?
According to the lawsuit, Jennifer Wertz, beginning in 2001, began providing real estate appraisals to WAMU. Jennifer was receiving approximately two to three appraisal orders each day and earned in excess of $100,000 a year from WAMU

I'm sure you can appreciate that I'm not qualified to answer any specific questions regarding the lawsuit. :new_smile-l:

And it equals 128-192 apiece. Unless it was way in excess of 100K.:rof:

I don't do drive-bys for mortgage finance transactions myself, but I think it I've read (in this forum) by those that do complete them that 10+ a week is not onerous if the orders are relatively concentrated in the same geographic area?

10 drive by a week all in the same neighborhood is OK. Doing 2 or 3 interior/exterior 1004 form apprisals every day, each one located in different city and county, is impossible for me to do if I want to do it all by myself. If I try, the second week I will be dead. But there are some quick and talented appraisers who might be able to do it. The way that I do my appraisals, I cannot even do one a day for every day of the year.

As I mentioned in the other post..I stand with the support of this lady because we have all been ****ed on before by lenders and finlly the worm is starting to turn..play ball or get lost GOOD LUCK with the suite

Attorneys want proof before lawsuits are filed. I'm sure that her attorney has seen enough proof to believe her, as he would put his law license on the line if he filed a lawsuit frivolously.

I also believe her & support her. :clapping:
