Anyone Going To Valuation Expo ** Las Vegas In August ?

The food and drinks are crazy high.
I've been going to Las Wages since mid seventies and I'm done. We have good casinos within 75 miles with better rooms and food and no 110 degree heat.

The heat is the one thing that won’t change with me going, so I’ll take a few degrees cooler. But completely true that it is small solace for the amount I’ll be paying there.

Glad I don’t gamble, but it does keep the amount of things else to do much shorter unless I like walking or grabbing a cab while I’m there. You would hope like other markets Vegas would get the hint to drop prices, but it must not hurt enough yet I guess.

They massively over built and now the city's too large a population to keep it's people employed. Of all the potential real estate bubbles Las Vegas may be it.

I could be wrong but we're seeing the smart money taking their chips and going home to invest someplace else.

Yeah when I went, I spent 80% of my waking hours betting in Sportsbooks. It was 8-9 years ago, though, so it was more of a novelty than today. Had a lot of fun, and won a parlay or two in the heart of college football season (want to say it was in Oct-Nov back then). Literally spent a hour or so at the expo (did not even register (actually…maybe did?) or attend any class or speaker) and got a direct lender client that just sent me an order yesterday. This will not be everyone’s experience, obviously. But to be honest, I kind of have a soft spot for Valuation Expo.

I was shocked by the food prices (and the food was very very good), but never put as much as a penny into a slot machine. Running a tech company for appraisers is plenty enough risk and excitement for me.

REVAA and AMCs don't have to worry about food prices. While the few indie appraisers who attend will eat the hamburgers they can afford, REVAA will wine and dine GSE and insta-toot muckety-mucks with fine wine, steak, lobster, and the best cigars money can buy. Deals will be made over dinner, and not with any indie appraisers.

What, you’re not happy to be able to fund their trips by skimming off your appraisal work?

Dude, my burger and beer was $60 in one Vegas casino. Can't even imagine what an AMC steak costs, but probably 2x min what the appraiser paid for their burger.

It’s not a big deal, they’ll Just take the difference out of the appraisers end.

Unless they seriously change the direction of expo, I’ll never go back. Like you said, I had a chicken sandwich and a soft drink at the Caesars food court and it was $50.

I’m sure it’s steak and high limit table games for the breakfast club

Maybe Mej is at the expo and waiting to report back?? :rof:
