Licensed? Heck no, Masters in Public Administration. Love the fun crossed arms look in all the new photos. And with her Senior Advisor, King David the Buntyn, I'm sure she'll do a bang up job continuing the regulation of appraisers.
We've been over this. TAF doesn't regulate anyone.
I'm a designated member of two organizations already, three if you count NAIFA, which I earned prior to the merger with ASA. My mentor encouraged me to earn a designation very early on. I was a member and an MAI "candidate" for designation member of Appraisal Institute for several years until I became disenchanted with their policies, shall we say. And that was before PAREA. I can't imagine SRA designees still paying them, but that's just me. YMMV.We've been over this. TAF doesn't regulate anyone.
And whatever comes next with the standards and qualifications criteria, they won't be nothing and they won't be creating or promulgating themselves - someone is going to do it and the critics will inevitably hate those future someones just as much as they hate the current someones. And for exactly the same reasons.
If you want representation on behalf of your business interests then join an appraisal org, or perhaps the Guild. That's what they're there for.
TAF does not lobby, and did not lobby the Florida legislature. Were you there? Maybe you can name the individuals from TAF involved in this "lobbying".Even in 2019, the TAF persistently endeavored to establish 'standards' for evaluations. Their efforts extended to lobbying the Florida legislature while considering relevant bills. Their preference seemed to lean towards untrained gas service attendants rather than qualified appraisers conducting these evaluations. It appears that TAF's agenda is to impose USPAP regulations on appraisers, putting undue burdens on them. Fortunately, their attempts have faced setbacks, with several states rejecting their proposals on this matter left and right.
I not only believe you on all counts but have heard the same from many other appraisers - affiliated and non-affiliated alike. As I say, I never joined any of the orgs, although I toyed with the idea of joining the ASA at one point. As it turned out I never really needed to join in order to work on my own on this side of the business. But, maybe that was a mistake. Maybe I would have become a better appraiser if I had.I'm a designated member of two organizations already, three if you count NAIFA, which I earned prior to the merger with ASA. Well, I just did my part by voting as an ASA Appraiser to help Appraisal Forum's own Dale Floyd get elected as one of the ASA Real Property discipline representatives at large. Congratulations, Dale, please help us all out during your tenure nationally!I not only believe you on all counts but have heard the same from many other appraisers - affiliated and non-affiliated alike. I gather you're not a Swiftie?Actually, he and others have meant it exactly as I characterized it. That was his entire point for quantifying the outcome in that manner; just like some of these guys were trying to get their favorite candidate for ASB appointment "elected" by sending in letters and such a while back.
The PREAMBLE in USPAP we have today is the result of a single unsolicited suggestion that was submitted to the ASB. A single appraiser rewrote it in a manner that resonated with the ASB as being better than we had, enough that they eventually adopted it. Hence their point that the quality and perspective are what counts in their decision making, not how many responses consisting solely of "I hate it" that they receive. The purpose of an exposure draft is to solicit perspectives they haven't already identified or considered. That they aren't already aware of.
Speaking of, virtually 100% of the criticisms people on this forum have about the material is limited to "I hate it" or "I hate it because of the money" without any specifics whatsoever. It's as if they all play Taylor Swift songs on constant rotation while they're driving because that's about as deep as their reasoning seems to go.
