Artificial Intelligence

Everybody who is scared of AI is missing the trend. Just think of the jobs that will be created by the demand for those proficient in using AI and understanding the technology. You have to stay on your tiptoes.

Everyone here loving AI is helping fannie to say, why do we need appraisers. Appraisers using AI to do their reports. Kinds like shooting yourself in the foot, but soon to be your own death.

Don't ask for whom the bells toll, they toll for thee.

AI has serious blind spots. And because it doesn't 'listen' it doesn't know them. I asked for recent sales and a value estimate on my house in Oregon. It clearly doesn't understand amenities of location and view. It gave me four sales to base its value, but omitted two excellent comparables. If I called a local realtor (who was involved in those sales) and asked her if those were the best comps, she would agree. So as a consequence instead of a valuation of $500/SF, AI came up with $400/SF, or off by 25%. AI, also didn't know about the $200K in remodeling and upgrades I've done in the last 4-years.

Agreed - reject technology you heathen. Personally - I'm going back to 35mm just to show 'em who's boss. :)

But wait, it gets worse. So Peter Strzok of FBI fame is in the news again....but somehow, someone 'scrubed' him:

"The posts by Peter Strzok were deleted from the Wayback Machine because he himself deleted all of his Twitter/X posts in July 2025. Following his deletion of posts on his official account, the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine removed all archives of his Twitter/X posts, effectively excluding them from its public archive. This removal appears to have been authorized or acted upon by the Internet Archive, as the archived URLs for his posts have been excluded.
The deletion coincided with heightened scrutiny of Strzok and federal investigations related to the Russia collusion allegations and other political controversies. There are reports that the deletions were part of a broader effort by Strzok amid ongoing federal criminal investigations concerning the “Russia Hoax” and related matters. This led to public concern and debate about control over archived information, censorship, and information preservation, especially since the Internet Archive also removed other controversial archived content.
In summary:
• Peter Strzok deleted all of his posts on X (formerly Twitter) around late July 2025.
• Following this, the Internet Archive removed the archived versions of his posts from the Wayback Machine.
• The reasons appear linked to Strzok’s actions and possibly requests impacting the archive, against a backdrop of federal investigations and political scrutiny.
• This raised concerns about archive censorship and transparency around Internet Archive’s control over such content removal .

...........................
"No official detailed public explanation from the Internet Archive about the exact authorization or method of removing these posts has been found, but it aligns with the deletion of posts by the account holder and subsequent archive URL exclusions.
.........................
"In summary, there is no easily accessible comprehensive alternative web archive offering full timestamps and complete content for Peter Strzok’s deleted X posts beyond what was once on the Wayback Machine. Partial captures or textual excerpts might still be found in legal documents, investigative journalism archives, or smaller niche archives, but no widely known fully indexed alternative archive exists at this time .

.......................
"In summary, while AI can struggle with reliability when internet records are deleted or manipulated, robust data sourcing, transparency about data provenance, and human verification are key to maintaining trustworthy AI outputs despite the ephemeral nature of some online information. The Strzok example underscores the importance of multiple corroborating sources in AI knowledge bases for ensuring information integrity.

As Alfred E Newman said, "What Me Worry?"
There's a way back machine?

I don't like AI. Its creepy and its unreliable. Sometimes it has good info and sometimes its way off the mark. Although since it pops up at the top of my Google search, I do use it. I just don't like it.

if every appraiser in America agreed with you it wouldn't make an atom's bit of difference

Oops, I posted this in another thread. Anyway, this is where we are going. GSE work will be on auto pilot pretty soon:
