Can't Get An Appraiser

Personally, I would just keep on your loan officer (or whoever you're working with for the loan) asking about status. Sadly that's about all you can do.

How long has it been that they've been "looking" ???

Another thing - side note - Streetlinks/Assurant is a larger company, and no offense, you're not the only one they're working on placing an order. Maybe, for whatever reason, your order just hasn't been looked at yet. But I have a feeling, again as the others have posted, it's more about the fee the AMC is offering the appraiser(s)

Hang in there, you'll get a call

So what am I supposed to do as a loan applicant?
How long has your assignment bid been out there?

You can complain to your lender that this is ridiculous and ask them if they have another method of engaging an appraiser.

I don't know exactly when they ordered it and I'm sure they are really busy. I'm probably a little anxious as all borrowers are. Thanks for all the info. Wes

Thanks everyone for all the answers.

how long since you started the whole loan process? If it's only been a couple/few days, especially with an AMC involved, there's a good chance it may not have even been ORDERED yet. But if it's been weeks ... I agree with Denis; I'd make a fuss about how ridiculous it is

(Edit to add: Please keep us posted. Too many times we get these questions, and we don't mind answering them, but then never hear anything else. In this particular case, with Streetlinks/Assurant involved, I think many (but at least myself) wouldn't mind hearing the outcome. Again, all the best)

Well, maybe not as ridiculous as I thought.
I just went on the TALCB website and counted the residential appraisers in Ector County. I counted 15 (I excluded trainees and Commercial appraisers). It is highly likely not all of those 15 take mortgage finance work.

There are only shortages of appraisers in COW states according to the people who write about appraiser shortgages. Have you tried Quicken or Rocket Mortgage? If your loan statement says $515 for the appraisal, then they may be having a hard time finding an appraiser to take on your property for $300 (the AMCs probably take $215). Is your home complex or worth a lot?

Streetlinks offered me an assignment 90 miles away and I'm not even residential. Offer out of blue. They are fishing for el cheapo appraiser. Chew the LO and threaten to find another lender.

Perhaps no sane appraiser would agree with Streetlinks stipulation on ownership of the appraiser's workfile-

Assurant aka Streetlinks is the absolute worst AMC to deal from an appraisers standpoint so much so that they had to put *** at the forefront of their nom de plume. Express your dissatisfaction with your lender that uses these arsewipes and demand better.
