Corelogic Just Acquired Alamode

The govt could contract people like corelogic to analyze the data but the government should be in charge of the data for federally insured institutions. Everything should flow through the government on appraiser data.

It’s the best way to gain independence for appraisers on federally insured institutions.

The govt should own and manage the delivery platform, the appraiser selection, the appraiser data, and fees if the purpose of the appraisal is for mortgage by a federally insured financial institution.

I didn't say it was you, just giving an example.

Why wold anyone be so close minded to give up a source of revenue that is better with fewer headaches? I have completed TWO AMC reports this year because I refuse to work with most of them. I have completed numerous Mercury Network reports for fees that are much higher than AMCs with no idiots calling on the phone. Why would you turn down assignments that pay $100-$150 more than the AMCs and are less hassle than AMCs?

No. You quoted me and then said "he points out idiotic statements...." You were clearly referring to me whether you intended it or not. So pay more attention.

As as far as the rest of your comment....wow....I mean wow!... As long as you can make a few bucks in the meantime... that was your point... right?

I do not know either of the individuals involved, and am quite new to this forum, but I did not for a minute interpret his post as implying you. I quickly and I think correctly read it as a post referring to the types of posts Tim responds to (sometimes mine too) :)

Lets cut to the chase--if we are on this forum at all, we are here for a reason, and I think directly or indirectly, we all have a dog in this fight. I also think one of the reasons there has been little historical unity in this industry is that we all are truly independent. That's a good thing. But sometimes its a bad one too.

The sky is falling...slowly (IMO). We can think and work together (as those giving suggestions on alternate marketing strategies and segments to consider), or continue bickering and in-fighting.

But history has very clearly demonstrated, that a house divided cannot stand.

Think about the above. I can't refer to you if it was not intended.

Every time a lender uses Mercury they DON'T use an AMC. Carry on as you wish. Your posts make no sense.

I wonder if anyone at Corelogic is listening in to our conversation?

Of course they are. And they are laughing. We are talking about big business here boys and girls. Do they care what appraisers think? Wake up and get real.

Unlike everyone here, though, I do have a solution. I've heard that A la mode has 40,000 appraiser customers. If half of them would throw in $500, that would be a sum of ten million dallahs. Yeah, ten million greenbacks.

Can we build our own software for that much, and OWN it ourselves?

Accountants could. Attorneys could. Architects could. But, we can't.

Because nobody here is smart enough to figure that out, and nobody here is trusting enough to get on board and put their money where their mouth is, and almost everyone would rather argue about it for the next few years, and blame [insert favorite scapegoat here] for everything.

Too bad we aren't even half as smart as we'd like to THINK we are. Because we could EASILY take control of this, for the paltry sum of $500, and be the masters of our destiny.

Let's see if this idea gets any traction. Personally, I'm kind of tired of being attacked on this forum on a constant basis, so I'm not going to be the leader that steps up for this - although I easily could. News flash: coding is cheap, and commonplace. Even sixth graders make apps. End of news flash.

Bingo. I've been thinking about this for some time.

That's exactly what is going to happen as there is an opportunity here. An "independent" appraisal form filling software. In fact, I bet someone is on it right now. There are actually a few appraisers that I know of who have a development background and have developed tools some of us here are already using in our business.

I would use this alternative software in a second. There are other factors to be concerned about though.

Most of these reports have to go through some portal to reach the client. Corelogic now seems to be the gatekeeper. Will they play nice?

Also, what if corelogic takes the position of....if you want to do business with our clients, you need to use our software. They already do it with the portals and management companies.

This is an excellent idea Rick. But the logistics would require a greater mind than mine. Are there any members with a significant development background who could chime in here on how this might play out?

Michigan,

I have insight into this that I would like to share but it would take time to type out and explain. Each time someone replies to me and throws a dig in at the end, I lose the desire to explain my position and resort to fighting back...(I acknowledge this fully and apologize). So when you end your comment with "your posts make no sense" or some other insult, I lose the desire to share. I'm not going to hurl anything back at you this time. If you would like me to explain my position on Mercury, I can. But I feel you have made up your mind and don't want to hear why I disagree.

If someone else would like to give you the counterpoint to your position on Mercury, great.

if the govt owned the data, the software, the delivery platform, Corelogic could send the govt a royalty every time they wanted to use the data, And the govt could keep half the royalty, and send appraisers half the royalty.
