Why not? They don’t ever bail anybody out. Lol.
Rightly or wrongly, the government has a long history of bailing out banks and other large financial entities. Conversely, they have no history of bailing out small players in the finiancial industry such as appraisers and they never will. The reason for this is because if the big banks and financial institutions go under, many people in and out of the government are afraid (again, rightly or wrongly) that the whole economic system will go down with them. On the other hand, if a bunch of appraisers go under, that does not affect the overall economy.

Sorry, but that is the reality of the way things are. It may not be right from a moral or philosophical perspective, but that is simply reality. If reporting the reality of the situation makes me biased in your eyes, so be it.

Corelogic is not going to dump appraisers because there is too much revenue we give them
Actually I expect them to bundle services to appraisers so you are tied all together. You have Alamode, Marshal & Swift, Realist, your local MLS for one "low" monthly subscription price and a place in the cloud to store your data ....and watch it be mined like lithium in the Chilean salt flats.

Your bias that I perceive and your above synopsis are not related. Your synopsis indicates I think your bias is towards government not bailing out appraisers.

That could not be further from the truth. Your bitterness towards appraisers while you accuse Lefty2cox of being bitter indicates a different type of motivation or bitterness that rings over and over and over.

Lefty - If it's any consolation I've told Pete the same thing many times. Likewise, I've participated in plenty of gunfights on this forum over the years and I've gotten as good as I've given, so the same thing applies as much to me as to anyone. I can really only think of two people who participate on this forum who have basically never returned the same level of hostility they've received - and they're both suits who get hassled because of their day jobs. (and no, I'm not referring to TimD, nor would I expect him to include himself in that little group). TL;DR, I live in the same glass house as everyone else.

The point remains (for us all), that to whatever extent we are discussing *EACH OTHER* that is the extent to which we are not discussing the *ISSUE* at hand. I don't see any disconnect between liking the person but hating the opinion, nor of hating the person but liking the opinion. So in that respect I think our efforts are more appropriately aimed at the ideas and opinions rather than the individuals who are espousing those opinions. Which after all, are usually held by many people, not just the one person.

If appraisers are notorious for not respecting someone's opinion primarily because of their status (aka the appeal to authority), then it would probably be best if we could become equally notorious for not despising someone's opinion solely because of their status.

The government needs to protect public trust and the best way to do that is develop their own delivery platform and form software and collect bucks from those who use it. And hoard the appraisal data.

For federally insured institutions. They can share with others if they wish.

There was a small independent formsware developer who had a forms suite that included it's own sketch program and which enabled users to design and share their own forms. He even named his software after the response he got from David Biggers when he submitted part of it for alamode's consideration "NCV", which stood for "Not Commercially Viable". I used that software for a bit and I designed a few forms in it (not hard to do), and while it wasn't any more mature an application than, say, alamode,s first couple Windows versions of Total, it was pretty informative for the fact that it was the result of a single guy who wasn't even doing that as his day job.

That venture failed, mostly because of the legal problems. There's more to the story and some blame to go around on both sides, but the suffice it to say the formsware competitors are engaged in a dirty, dirty business. There several stories about these companies going out of their way to hurt each other.
Dave Biggers Passed Away you may want to look at his 17 year old daughters post on the forum !

Yes, I know. The fact that I observed the reality of the situation which is that the government has never bailed out appraisers and is extremely unlikely to ever do so makes me biased in your eyes.

You got me....I am biased towards reality and against fantasy.
