Corelogic Just Acquired Alamode

I would like to pose a question if I may. For those that are not alarmed with Corelogic’s buy up.... What are the positives for the appraiser that I am missing?

Honest question

Don’t look at it from an appraiser standpoint solely. Look at it from a public trust standpoint. If the government had the engagement of the appraiser, delivery platform for the appraiser, and the form software for appraisers for government insured financial institutions for appraisals?

Then, tell me your perspective from a public trust standpoint vs this current fiasco.

I know very well it would be better and the government would make more money, be more secure. Appraisers would benefit but public trust would benefit more.

The govt could literally do it in 6 months or less with their resources.

I will get back to you on your question. I would like to read some responses on the benefits of Corelogic's acquisitions.

No problem. Focus on whom the benefits go to. The government serves the public.

You and I do too.

It's becoming a company town.
Consolidations do not stimulate creativity. Think Microsoft. The "company store" can now dictate appraisers to use their software in order to access their other products. "Bundled" package could give you access to Alamode, Realist, your local MLS, Marshall & Swift, or, conversely, DENY such access, and once at that level, why would they not choke off outside users, basically killing off the competition? And by running the software for those who compile public data (assessor, deeds, flood maps, zoning maps, etc.) you basically are Peabody Coal,

Did I say they were? So you say they never have any contact?
You are the one who stated that there was someone who served on the boards of both companies, which I have shown is factually false....so other than implying that there is some sort of conspiracy between the two companies, what point were you trying to make?

That was a true statement. James Chatham
That is incorrect and you know it. Chatham never served on both boards at the same time....he was on First Am's board until 2009 before the current CoreLogic entity even existed. When Corelogic was spun off in 2010, Chatham was put on the board of the new CoreLogic company but has not served on the First Am board since that time. Are you implying because Chatham was on the First Am board 9+ years ago before the CoreLogic spinoff that shows that there is some sort of conspiracy? If not, what is your point?

Ironic indeed. I know of no poster who exhibits more bitterness than you.

Your misdiagnosing Lefty. Bitterness is not what he or she is exhibiting.
The truth often sounds bitter to those who don't want to hear it and/or live in fantasyland.

Don't worry though, I am sure the government will be coming along any minute now to save appraisers by taking over the profession...lol.

Can we build our own software

It's already happened and coming soon! Thankfully.

What are the positives for the appraiser that I am missing

There is still great value in the marketplace for neutrality. Don't let this alamode/Corelogic/First American/Fannie/Freddie monopoly get you down. I'm not opposed to corporate but the partisan fun is as cyclical as the weather. Storms come and go and so does the sunshine. Onward and upward. (y)
