So we know if there was a place lenders could go, be compliant and order an appraisal from a place that wasn't
IMO you're pretty tone-deaf. You reference a prior topic here that did not seem to resolve to your satisfaction. I daresay history will likely repeat itself. By all means blame it on some elitist AF cabal. Here's a thought tho...maybe it's not us.

Elitist?
Whether or not one thinks that the joke is funny, it is simply not appropriate for a professional occupational forum. Regarding my employer, I am not afraid of it at all, however I work as the chief appraiser for a highly regulated and publicly traded company and I am not here to speak on behalf of the company. My signature simply makes that clear.

Right. Don't you worry...that's plenty...all we needed to know. This is like fish in a barrel.

Who's next? The assessor? Thank you! Can we get some input on this from people with skin in the game?

Listen, I'm sure you two have years of experience and plenty to share with regards to appraisals. But that's where it ends. This thread is not for you. Neither of you has been involved in the day to day plight of appraisers with a large portion of the revenue stemming from residential mortgage appraisal.

I wallowed in AMC misery for years...I totally get where you are coming from. I am no fan of where the industry is headed but what does that really matter? If you wanna change the world...go for it I wish you the best. If you wanna change your own (work related) personal reality...I highly recommend it...only thing that worked for me. Many have given pretty good advice or given perspective on what's happening from outside the fee appraiser bubble...like it or not it's good, actionable info. Don't be offended that not everyone wants to grab a pitchfork and slay the monster with you...there are too many other paths one could choose to take that will provide a solution.

Well, thank you. Sincerely. That is good advice for all appraisers. And props on your avatar...from one Schwarzenegger fan to another...my mind is open, Quaid.

I wouldn't recommend appraisers give up on improving the mtg lending work with regards to appraising. If you are one of the folks that really believe that supply and demand apply in a market, you don't want demand to drop by 90-95% (which is probably in the ballpark of what mtg lending work is in the appraisal market). So you better hope the majority of appraisers trying to make change for the better are successful.

You might even try to join.

Probably the most poignant point made to this point. Because we'll all be going for that 5-10% that's left. And that wouldn't be good for anyone.

Can you guys tell I'm on vacation? I'm all up in your grill....sorry about that.

Demand for a product (1004) that even we don't much care for? Big data is already here. Big players are already figuring out how to apply it and are testing different products. We should be fighting to keep relevant in that venue. There's the current battlefield IMO. The cheese is already moving...stay put and soon there will be nothing to eat.

I'm optimistic about the future. In a matter of just a few weeks, a NEW appraisal software will be introduced.

There is valuable space, now more than ever, for appraiser neutrality in the marketplace and these are very exciting times.

Like 3 days later....sorry Tres, while you were busy given Dave Biggers the reach around....we moved on...

the world does not revolve around you and your whining. i have better things to occupy portions of my time.

i moved on from alamode almost 5 years ago. i am sure dave is laughing at you as he drives around in the car you bought him. make sure you pick out a nice one for the execs at corelogic next time you give them your money.
