Desktop Review Question

They keep trying to call and send me field reviews in my area. I will not accept them for $120 and I keep telling them I don't want their reviews. But, I'm not sure the guy from India understands me. :) From my limited experience, most of the appraisals are pretty scary and are being reviewed for a reason. Which with gas expense up, would translate into me making like $3 per hour. I can sleep better at night without their $120.

Yeah its a horrible fee. But I figured I'd do it because I have no new appraisals yet.

Don't you have any pride in either your profession or yourself? It is people like you, who are accepting work that pays such ridiculously low fees, that are ruining this profession. Even if it only took 5 minutes to complete the so called enhanced deck review, $65 is not enough to justify taking on the potential liability involved. PEOPLE WHO DO ANY APPRAISAL WORK FOR $65 FEES ARE LOSERS.

I cannot express how sad - and how extremely angry I am about this.

There is no reason to be angy. Sadness is enough.

They want the "reviewer" to put up a $1,000 E&O Policy for the minimum sum that will not even fill up their car with gas.

In all honesty, Id simply tell them the form is not part of my software package, and I will be unable to complete the assignment in accordance with their request.

Bummer about losing all that money, but some days being paid such a small amount is not worth the hundreds of dollar headache you will get.

Simply pass on the assignment respectfully.

Then repeat after me ... I am not a prostitute .. I will not simply do anything for money. Self respect is worth a lot more than $65 ... in my opinion.

Best of luck to you.

Absolutely, agree...

This is why eAppraiseIT dropped their lawsuit against Pam Crowley, they couldn't find any lawyers to take the case for $65. (Sorry Ms. Crowley, I couldn't resist the shot at eAppraiseIT.)

After reading the transcript of the deposition, one might guess that was all they paid their Florida legal team.

And now, continuing to take advantage of the glut of appraisers by offering this product. Sure, there'll be a few desperate quality appraisers doing it, but who's going to be doing the bulk of this? The answer is painfully obvious...

SEE POST #8 "Enhanced" RARS

http://appraisersforum.com/showthread.php?t=134454

"ENHANCED" .......I.E 3 gridded additional comparables regardless of whether the review Appraiser agrees or disagrees with the original value opinion; Non-enhanced, RARS 2006 form also requires Rev. Value $$ estimate opinion.

i.e. TWO licenses, TWO E&O's, TWO Appraisal Opinions of Value for LESS than TWO appraisal fees with TWO attendant LIABILITY BULLSEYES they can aim at when BOTH are proven to be fairytales. :new_2gunsfiring_v1:

Lukas - did they overnight their official bullseye tshirt with the order?

Tell em "want an appraisal ORDER ONE and pay me for it". ........n/g? PASS.!

I wouldn't do a 65 dollar review I would go play golf instead.

The 'new' appraisal that gets done with one of these enhanced reviews is actually more difficult than doing an appraisal the right way from the beginning. That's because the new appraisal has to rely upon the original appraiser's appraisal rather than an inspection. That creates a convoluted appraisal that includes a partial reliance on the old appraisal's data for that data which has been verified to be correct, And, assumptions and hypos for that data which cannot be verified from the original appraisal. Worth way more than a typical appraisal fee.

I will pay you $100 to paint my bathroom, AND I'll make you lunch to which you will also get a lecture on why you don't do this to your appraisal profession!!!
