California companies, including PayPal, have been expanding or relocating outside the Golden State. PayPal recently opened a facility in Arizona.

California companies fleeing the Golden State

Governors around the country, smelling blood in the water, have stepped up their courtship of California companies.

Companies are "disinvesting" in California at a rate five times greater than just two years ago.

Long time passing, where have all the jobs gone? Long long ago, gone to other states, everyone, long ago. When will they learn? When will they ever learn?

Amazon aims to have voters decide on sales-tax law

I love democracy - I don't appreciate a republic or representative democracy. A direct vote of the people, especially on matters of taxation, is harder to buy than a representative.

Big money is gearing up for the fight: on one side we have Wal-Mart, labor groups and others that benefit from taxation. On the other side, we have consumers who love a bargain and Amazon who is in the business of offering bargains.
It is also much easier to oppress minorities of all types. Nothing quite like pure democracy to promote conformity and mediocrity.. :new_all_coholic:

Will the Stock market determine debt ceiling policy?

... Does the US stock market have the final say as to what will be done with the debt ceiling? ....

.... Democrats are raking in corporate donations right now .....

... Has the stock market morphed itself into an incestual relationship with big government spending policies that continue to kick the debt can down the road to the next fella?

.... if the markets begin to fall sharply ... will the democrats use the crisis to make the republicans cave and split the party?

.... Is the stock market now part of a mutual kabal with liberalism and Keynesian economics?

.... Will the republicans stand firm against this addiction to debt in the stock market?

.... Will the public be able to see through the lies of the so called "lock box" for social security ...... and rise above the class warefare?

.... I'm a realist ....... I say the stock market will split the republican party in two .....

..... the debt ceiling will be raised ..... and Obama will win the political victory ....

.... not from any kind of centered virtue, but from the pure desperation the urban centric eco-zombie

And you never heard of the tyranny of the minority in a representative democracy?

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time. - Winston Churchill, From a House of Commons speech on November 11, 1947, as referenced in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, Third Edition, p. 150, #19

Broken government by whatever form results in oppression of all, some more than others.

Why are all the smart people from Virginia? Go Jefferson!

I much prefer a representative republic functioning under the rule of law.

I hope you guys are enjoying today's news as much as I am. Obamma is threatening to withhold SS checks in August a total act of desperation and the Republican leadership is pulling every string they can find to compromise and make a deal but the TeaParty congressmen are holding the rip cord and smiling. To bad guys, the jig is up. Looks like we are in for a real tea party. Bring your own tea because ther ain't no free lunches at this Tea Party. Even the Fox talking heads like Bill O'Reilly are caving in. I have known from the beginning that guy was on the sly.
