No matter how much wealth we pour into the govt it isn't going to help us when we go to compete for goods and services in the market. All enabling people to spend more on (for example) their housing costs does is increase the costs of housing with the excess going directly into the pockets of the landlords. As in, the same group of people we're trying to get even with.
Exactly. Until you stop the grift, no amount of taxation is going to achieve the desired results.
We can't make any societal progress because we don't have a "homogenous culture". Similar to "overpopulation". That simply means there's too many black and yellow people on the planet.

Not only does the US have a $40T debt, but they spend ~ $3T a year on welfare programs. Think about that for a moment. That's $9k per person spent on welfare programs annually. The fact that there are ANY citizens going hungry in the US is a complete travesty. We don't need more taxes - we need to.... wait for it... stop the grift.
American capitalism was great for settling a new continent. Resource extraction is easy, and when the environment is given short shrift enormous profits can be extracted without regard for future generations. Kill or swindle all the original landowners, cut down all the forests, strip mine all the land, pump out all the hydrocarbons, and leave all the problems associated with robber baron capitalism for future generations to take care of. We're past that phase now, and we need to shift gears towards an economic system which is more sustainable, and with outcomes that are less stratified.

If advocating for a system that disables grift at large scale is virtue signaling, then I'm guilty as charged. I'm a bit surprised you're not in favor of such a system, but then again - that idea is, I'm sure, more appealing to a libertarian than someone of the socialist persuasion.
I hate grift. I dislike watching liars, cheaters & criminals prosper. I never wanted to go into the real estate industry, however "appraising real estate" fit my my particular mindset with regards to those issues just fine. I simply thought that since we were discussing "things that bothered us" I didn't give any more credit for your "anti-grift sentiment" than my "anti-starvation sentiment" with regards to what the weather outside happened to be doing at the time.
