OK all of you Florida Appraisers...I have been so busy for a few months that I haven't had much time to spend on the forum. Things have slowed drastically for me (I hope the trend doesn't last but don't mind a slowdown for a few weeks!)

Let's take advantage of this separate forum and get to know each other. I get calls for appraisals that are out of my area and frequently refer business to Mike in Tampa. Let's hear from the rest of you and your coverage area.

I'm in Hernando County, and cover northern Pasco, as well as southern half of Citrus County. How about you all? Pamela and Mike I have met at the FREAB meeting (I hope to go again soon).

Judy, I cover Manatee and Sarasota Counties, and once in a while, Charlotte county.

Kathy,

Your sure cover some pretty territory! I try to drag my boat to Steinhatchee at least two or three times a year. Such clear water! Such nice fish! Seems like I have noticed a few manufactured homes out that way.......... :D

Hi, Jim.

We occasionally receive requests for your area and if you'd like, I'd be happy to send them your way. Feel free to email me your contact information.

I cover Sarasota, Charlotte, & Lee Counties. Love the estate work. Interest rates go up, interest rates go down, but people pass on at a steady rate.

Dennis,

Each time I do a report for an estate, I try to figure out how to make that my exclusive niche. I'm thinking I need to overcome my aversion to "social" networking and keep my face in front of estate lawyers (oy!, what a prospect!).

If I have the opportunity to refer clients your way, I'll certainly do so.

My wife says I spend enough time in Lee County that I should consider appraising in that area. I had to explain to her that my property expertise is limited to various sandbars and mangrove shoreline in and about Pine Island Sound and that redfish condo reports aren't much of a market! :D

Take care.

Wally, I also do a lot of estate work, I have even done some appraisals for the Chief Justice of our Circuit Court, and I have used his name to generate more business. I also advertise in the Legal directory the lawyers use. But word of mouth and contact are the best methods of generating new clients.

Just got around to reading this for the first time in a few days - thanks for the kind words, Wally. Steve and Dian are great and we really enjoy working with them. They are the exception to the "nice" mortgage broker comments!

They were referred to me by a loan office at SouthTrust - too bad SouthTrust doesn't do much in this county, as I am on their approval list!

I also need to cultivate my estate business. After all, most of the attorneys in town are either related to me, or went to high school with me!

Judy,

Is the referral of Olympic Funding from you? They just said 'Judy' so I'm not really sure. If so, thank you very much!

Yes, it was me. They called late yesterday afternoon and I gave them your office number and your cell number (I hope that was OK).

Hope they turn out to be a good one! Poor Mike in Tampa - one of my referrals ended up being a nudist colony (he said his wife wouldn't let him go  )

"But, Honey, it's just the same as that house I did last month for the nice Japanese family where they asked that I remove my shoes .... only I just have to remove a little more."

Hmmmm, nudists. Would that make their closets functionally obsolete?

Thanks again Judy! Thought it was you. Regarding the cell phone number, actually, I never give it out to clients. Only my one favorite LO has it. I do forward my office phone to the cell quite often when I'm out. Anyway, I have the order and will get it done for them.

Nudists!!!! I'll do the appraisal.... just won't participate! Oooops.... that good looking guy over there is in the picture.... guess I'll just have to take more pix.... and more.... and more.... :P Oh... forgot momentarily that people are not supposed to be in the pix.....
