How Many Appraisals Do You Complete Each Week?

I don't know what my 1099's added up to last year, but I would hope they'd be at least that much.
You are supposedly running a business; why wouldn't you know what your revenue was not only last year, but for several years back, along with your overall expenses?

A lot of appraisers make $100-$150/year. 7 x $450 x 48 = $151,200.

i was thinking the same thing. if you live near lots of people and have steady full fee clients appraising can be very profitable and a great profession.

I am curious. When is the last time you did an appraisal?

I don't have my tax returns memorized. I try to look forward. But if it's the IRS asking, I only made $50K last year. Another bad year, its tough out there.

I'm not like some - I don't have the luxury of working for a company, where I can coast through the day behind a desk daydreaming away. I miss those corporate world days - I was pretty good at online gambling back then. Poker is all about seeing thousands and thousands of hands. Wish I had that kind of time now.

There does seems to be a bunch of salaried appraiser employees who spend a boatload of time reading, posting and debating on this forum during business hours...

Maybe you had some easy job back in your corporate days, but I can assure you that I likely work much harder and longer hours in my position than 99% of residential appraisers do. I am not complaining though as I am very well compensated for what I do.

My tax CPA handles the income, as I have royalty from books, minerals, a farm, and appraising. And I just made $40 mowing a vacant lot :)
I grossed $100k+ many years. I netted <$100k most years.

Maybe some people should turn in their appraisal license. Enough from the peanut gallery.

3 a day was insane 2004-2008. But I was younger and newly single. 3 a week keeps the tax man away for me. VA all the way, My wife, lowballer & bottom scum,
still deals with Dart, Solidifi, Rels et al. I hear her screaming on the phone in the office next to mine. I just won't do it anymore. She will spend 60 hours dealing with idiots for 4 reports at $ 375.+/-
I'll spend 30 hours a week doing 3 @ $ 450. But, I have 30+ years in the Biz and she 13 +/- years.

Would certainly described 2 of the top ten posters most months. Not sure what qualifies as a "bunch."
