Saw an ad for an appraisal job that supposedly pays over $75K. I anticipate at no more than a 60% split, so trying to get an idea of how many production units the mill is going to expect in output per week.

The answers here and what they expect might vary, why not call and ask them? You might be surprised and at least we would know!

That information implies paid fees of $125,000. The math would suggest 6+ appraisals a week @ $400 for 52 weeks a year. Compress that into 5 day work weeks with 2 weeks of vacation, not counting "typical" holidays, it becomes 6.25 appraisals per week @ $400.

I agree with your analysis. Other variables would be actual typical fee and split paid. If $350 fee at 50% and 50 weeks per year of work, that changes to 8.6 appraisals per week, and if a few benefits are provided the split might go even lower -> 10.7 appraisals per week (at 40%). I have no intention of working for someone else right now, but I like to try to see what the competition is doing.

I do 3ish a week (PT), a mixture of full/2055, and gross around fifty bones.

I knew some appraisers worked part-time, but I'm interested in full time appraiser output to get more consistent results. Thanks.

2-3 @ $400. I'm doing my part on holding out and letting the mill shops take the extra $100k a year via sub $400 work.

@ $275 I'd have as much work as I could handle, have to expand, take on staff and 3 trainees...but I wouldn't be doing my part.

I answered poll, 4-6 a week is what I feel comfortable doing , I could make twice as much if I wanted to expand geo area/take on more orders. Some crazy weeks it is 7 a week, a slow week can be 2 or 3 ( I am full time appraiser work for my self )

Exactly. I have a monthly goal, which is mainly determined by tax bracket. Can't see any point in earning 25K more and only getting to keep 40-50%. This month was a little slow, which was a good thing: it balanced out a couple really busy months.
