I just had an agent call and ask me to measure a house. She just wants a reliable number for the GLA in her listing.

I looked at the house and it is not going to be difficult at all. She said one guy charges $100 and another guy charged $25 per bedroom.

I told her I would do it for $100.

Now I am wondering how much you would charge to do the same thing.

If you can get 100 for a simple house go for it. Many of the agents I have run into are pretty stingy and won't pay more than about 80 (this was before the gas price runup though). I have charged up to about 250 for big complex measures.

$75 for a single level with $25 extra for each additional level and large outbuilding for properties here in town. A gas surcharge of $0.50 per mile is added for out of town properties.

My minimum fee is $50, but that is a barebones sketch of a small single story house.

$0.050 per sqft so $50 for 1,000 sqft box, $100 for 2,000 sqft, etc.

Hey, I had my math wrong and you beat me to the correction.

Apparently we have a real cheapster running around my area. Complex houses are about the only time we get these calls, and there is some silly person providing sketches that rival the detail of construction plans at $50.

A pack of Guinness if she's hot and pleasant on the eyes. :)
