Hurricane Helena devastation in NC!

Biden was where?
No where - hasn't been for 4 years and his own Homeland security guy said FEMA spent $600 million plus for illegal immigrants

On Wednesday US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had said the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which he oversees, was short on cash for the rest of hurricane season.
Trump and his allies expressed outrage that the agency had spent over $640m (£487m) on housing migrants.

I have phobia on drowning. It holds no candle to crucifixion.

The brain goes dead pretty quick including elite athletes.

The human body don't last long on drowning. The brain that controls everything in the body loses control.

Even for most elite athletes I would give them 5-30 minutes and that would be kind. If they suck water in lungs, it is 5-10 minutes max.

Doesn't it make you feel better to have the comfort of the daily Mayorkas news conference concerning the federal response to the areas afflicted with storm damage? Hope and joy are palatable.

Even if they survive over a few minutes without oxygen to the brain, the brain damage is permanent.

We are not fish.

I'm outraged taht Trump's tax cuts to the corporations and wealthy pre covid added three trillion to the deficit - that shortfall could have easily funded lots of cash for FEMA.

Where is the proof that FMEA spent $640,000 on housing migrants? FMEA and Homeland Security are separate agencies.

Now a kernel of truth comes out - slowly like pulling teeth - Myoraks said FEMA is short on cash- he did not say FEMA was short 640 million because they spent it to fund illegal immigrants- (which was th original falsehood posted here)

Florida is going to get pounded from another storm.

Crap. Just what we don't need. The cone of landfall can always change of course, but even getting the outer bands of a storm like this is punishing.

Most Floridians know by now to have gas in the car, cash in th house, a store of food, water and hopefully have storm shuttres in place - but catospthicc damage is whole level of suffering if it debvlops into a cat 3 or above and hits a populated area.

YOU are so wrong. But, ....

1. FEMA is part of Homeland Security, but has a separate budget.

2. According to ChatGPT: "In the fiscal year 2024, FEMA allocated substantial funds specifically for programs assisting migrants. Over the past two fiscal years, more than $1 billion has been designated to the Shelter and Services Program (SSP), which supports communities dealing with an influx of migrants. This funding is used for a variety of services, including shelter, food, transportation, and medical care for migrants after their release from Department of Homeland Security custody. For FY 2023, FEMA spent $363.8 million on its migrant program and had $650 million allocated for FY 2024.

These funds are separate from FEMA's disaster relief funds, used to respond to natural disasters and emergencies within the U.S. The budget for these two types of programs is distinct, ensuring that disaster relief efforts are not financially impacted by the assistance provided to migrants."

3. Of course, that $1B could have been allocated to disaster relief funds.

Again, if Trump had not run up a three trillion deficit pre covid from massive tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations, FEMA could be flush with cash -

Former President Barack Obama accumulated more debt on his watch than Trump did.

• On a per-year basis, Trump oversaw a debt rate increase that was higher than Obama’s.

• Assigning debt to a particular president can be misleading because so much of it traces back to decades-old, bipartisan legislation that set the parameters for Social Security and Medicare.
