Improper Appointment To The Ncab Again

The "diversity" must be among the Governors five appointees (and I think this is USPAP Compliant's issue). The term "diversity" is not exclusive. It simply means a "great variety."

So two appointees in the same city is a violation of the diversity requirement?

The "continue reading" link no longer functions. But the gist was that the appraiser (and MAI according to your) had a suspension for inflating values and goes on to say that this sends the wrong message to residential appraisers. Nothing after that.

So what does that part have to do with the geographic diversity issue that seems to be the focal point of your angst? Where are the other appointees located?

No!!!!! The recently appointed appraiser & MAI was never involved with inflating any appraisals. He (Hector Ingram, MAI) went ballistic several years back when a black lady (Lauriette West-Hoff) was appointed to the NCAB. This lady, Lauriette West-Hoff had her license suspended some years ago for......inflating appraisals. Ingram, our new board member went on a rampage about her not being qualified for a board appointment. I agreed with him then and still do. She was not reappointed. The connection is that he wanted to reverse her appointment due to her dishonesty and now he has accepted an appointment that violates state law. You can't have it both ways. It shows a lack of integrity on his part to accept the appointment.

The term in 93e is "geographically diverse areas of the State". Having two appointees from the same city is not diverse by any stretch of the imagination. Either comply with the law, change the law or stop pretending that honesty and ethics are important for our leaders.. I want lose any sleep over this...but I will not stop talking about it and teaching about it until his term is up or he man's up and resigns.

Here is the full story on Hector Ingram's protest on West-Hoff's appointment. Back then he was all about honesty, ethics and doing the right thing.....today.....not so much.

You know your State best. But I don't think the diversity issue is so focused that it constitutes breaking a law.

93e is State LAW. It is not a rule, a good idea, an option or a guideline. It is state law. Read the law. If you think that appointing two appraisers from the same city does not violate the law which says the Governor SHALL....not should, not may, not ought to but SHALL make his appointments from "geographically diverse areas of the State" then there is no need for me to chat about it.

Read the law

I posted the law ... after reading it.

di·verse
dəˈvərs,dīˈvərs/
adjective
  1. showing a great deal of variety; very different.
    "a culturally diverse population"

I don't mean to tread into state issues, where I am not a resident. Seems to me the governor may have violated the intent of the state law, and not necessarily the recipient of the appointment to the state position.

"May have violent the intent of the law"? The law is clear. The governor SHALL make his appointment in viverse areas of the state. How can anyone possibly think that appointing two board members from the same city squares up with the law.

I will just have to disagree on that. Ingram knew what the requirements for the position were and he also knew that there was already a board member from Wilmington. He should have declined the appointment. It is no different than someone stealing $1,000.00 and then offering me $500.00 of it. If I know it is stolen and accept it I have 1) Shown that I have no ethics 2) Become a participate in the crime. There is also a little legal issue called "theft of services".

Numerous appraisers across the street probably applied for that seat and it was stolen by an appraiser with no sense of right and wrong. What would you do if you were appointed to a board and knew the appointment violated state law? I know exactly what I would do.
