Is Appraiser Depot Still In Business?

I purchased a Disto Laser in Oct 2006 and also purchased a cd to "learn the basics"; however, my mentor, who has been appraiser for over 50 years taught me to use nothing but a tape to measure a house with. Years after he retired, the box arrived with the disto laser, glasses, holster, etc; needless, to say, I have never taken the disto laser out of the box (even with the cd)....I still use a fiberglass tape measuring in decimals...my mentor was right after all.

No he was not right. You just don't know what you're missing. However, even if you insist on using a tape you should investigate a 'new' thing called ebay to unload that Disto for some cash.

You do make a very good point for any trainee; don't buy anything for appraising without consulting your supervisor.

Nah....i will get around to using it one of these days....just have not had time to watch the cd....the one good thing about using the tape is the exercise involved.

You're right and my apologies.

I am and was pretty angry at the poor response, lack of follow-up, and failure to make good on a promise from Appraiser Depot. Even if my Disto wasn't repairable, I would have liked some help as to where I could go or even pay 50% for a new one.
It seems that most of the customers who are happy with the products and services at Appraiser Depot have not had to deal with returns, exchanges, or haven't attempted to call Appraiser Depot.

I just ordered a Disto from Appraiser Depot yesterday. I'll let you all know how I like it when it comes.

One question I have is how long is the warranty period? A previous poster was all upset because he/she didn't get a new disto when the one he/she had broke. Was it still under warranty? What does the warranty say in terms of where to send it for service if it is in fact covered? It just seems a bit extreme to expect a brand new device after more than a year of use. If it broke right out of the box it would be one thing, but a Disto can get beat up pretty bad after a year of regular use.

I ordered a Disto on the 28th. It has not arrived , and while I am not in panic mode yet, there has been no returned emails or phone calls. I am not down on Appraiser Depot yet, but poor customer service is what separates poor business from good business. But I will withold any negative comments until I get the thing. Or if I don't get it.

Ordered mine on the 20th July. Check deposited on the 21st. Waited. Called on or about the 28th. Waited. Read this thread and started worrying. Waited. Emailed on the 31st. Still Waiting on a reply or something.

Matt emailed me back yesterday. Said it would be here this week. Said he would give me tracking # on Monday. Im doubtful. What I really want is a refund so I can stop worrying about it and go somewhere that has a positive rep. Same day shipping? Not likely. Should have done my homework before I ordered the darn thing. Im worried now that Im going to get a used one for full price. Well see.
