Leica Disto D810 Touch For Sale

In our business, shaving minutes cost dollars. Luckily we can write them off. This device is a no brainer purchase. You will save time and be confident in your accuracy.

The op's Disto is too 'bells and whistles' for me. I can live without BT and touch screen, it's the reliability and quality I depend on in the Disto name.

As with any digital gear, there are field procedures that take time to develop into your inspection. I can honestly say I can beat any appraiser with a wheel or two appraisers with a tape; the Disto is my third hand.

You can blow $50 or $100 on a depot laser special. You also can eat walghetto steaks. Digger don't play that.

I bought my D5 used...yes used...off the bay, I believe right before I got certified. For nearly 10 years my Disto has performed flawlessly. Low battery indicator, I got a week to buy more. Buttons work first time, every time.

Ponder on it....

yea, im doing a d5, lol. tried to buy tonight but they were closed.

I have a Disto D5 and a Disto E7500, both having a zoom-in feature when distance or sun are an issue. I prefer using the infared glasses though. My first disto was a small brick, probably from 2001. Still have it, in case I hire a trainee. :)

Wayne's site probably has the current distos. I found both of mine on a website for a company based in Florida, not stating the price unless one called or asked for the price. Probably under the Leica suggested selling price.

is wayne appraiserlaser? tried to buy tonight but they were closed and did say i had to call to get the price.

The D5 was discontinued when I purchased to E7500, almost identical in features and utility. Keep in mind that if you want to go to mobile, there are more advanced Distos that will feed your mobile device. I am not going there, so not interested in that trend...rather focus on higher end, long tat properties and clients. :)

is the unit you have the one with the on screen marker that shows where you are pointing in high sunlight situations?

Yes, the D5 does have the camera/on screen option. If you are in direct sunlight, it is real tough to see (measure inside) but any trace of shade will reveal the dot without visual assistance.

I bet the D5 is a 10+year old model, no longer in production. I see them sold on the bay and, with proper buying technique, you can secure a good one from a reputable buyer for a fair price. Might take a couple weeks for one to pop up but it's worth the wait.

A CR buddy of mine (past MLS prez) just bought his first one. Surprised he actually coughed up the cash for a new one (aren't most appraisers frugal??? LOL) after seeing mine in action a few weeks prior. I believe he bought the step down from the original poster's model (lacking BT and touch screen); comparable to the D5. I was afraid to ask what he spent.

Best to play around with it in your house to get it down. Point, push, results. Trick is to find downspouts, hold it high and hit the soffit, hit a corner brick, bang it off the deck handrail...stuff like that....outstanding results measuring interior 2nd floors on cape cods or odd 1/2 story floors and attic spaces.

I had that same brick, use it as a paperweight and my Sony Mavica as a door stop. Listen to Wise JTip, go Disto! Tapes are a PITA and wheels are for old farts. Disto-Mania, Babee, it's runnin' wild.

the best i am seeing for the e7500 is 499 on ebay, is that in line what others have paid?

nope. go here:

http://www.appraiserslaser.com/disto-e7500.html

their list price is $499 but they typically give a 10-20% discount off the advertised price when you call them. plus you get the full warranty vs no warranty on ebay. not saying you will need it as my 9 year old D5 is still going strong, but better to have it than not, especially when it doesn't cost any more (and actually less in this case).

SWEET! got $90 off and its on the way, thanks for the tip.

HELL YES! cant believe it has a zoom function too! this will DEF save me time. measured my house and it went by quicker than if i had my bosch. the best thing is i should be able to measure most home all from the outside. i hate having to measure inside too when i couldnt see my old laser's dot. this laser dot is much brighter. thanks for dragging me kicking and screaming into the world of lasers fellas! i cant believe less than 1 year ago i was still using a wheel. good Lord...
