No HUD Label, No Inside Label....

I saw this thread and thought I would ask a question. It had nothing to do with my current appraisal just something that came to mind. I did a conventional sale of a home I appraised several years ago. At the time of the original sale the home HUD tags and data plate. I still have the original appraisal with pictures of these. The owners have removed the HUD tags and data plate. (Thought it made it detracted from the appearance, changed nothing else:shrug:) On my appraisal I stated the data was from my office files from an old appraisal and there was no problem. Could this have gone FHA with this data?

I have had similar situations, I note in my report that the information was obatained from my appraisal files. And for FHA that the DE underwriter can obtained verification from IBST prior to funding/insuring. I include the link in the report. The appraiser describes the problem--the underwriter has to figure out the solution.

No exterior tags , no FHA insurance, period.......

Jo Ann, I've noted over the years that you are the expert in manufactured homes.

Question: Where would one go to find the information that was posted on the interior
Data Plate, the label on the inside of the home, that contains items such as (a) the name and address of the manufacturing plant in which the home was manufactured, (b) the serial numbers and model designation, and the date the unit was manufactured?

The exterior HUD tags are there but the interior label has disappeared. Where can I go to find the info on the interior manufacturers data plate (label)?

Thank you

Under the kitchen sink or in one of the kitchen cabinets.Usually by the water heater or utility closet , THE SEARCH IS ON..

I find a lot of people keep thier sales papers if bought new and in many cases pass them on to the new buyer. You might ask the owner.

I also think there is a way you can trace them back through the HUD number plates.

Just my thinking.

The Data Plate can not be reproduced if it cannot be found either in the home or from the owner. The first three alphabetical characters on the HUD label indicate which inspection agency approved the construction while under construction in the factory. Following is a link to to the inspection agencies, check with the applicable one. http://www.HUD.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/mhs/mhsid.cfm
Model year, name of manufacturer and model should be in ownership records, assessment offices, building permits, etc.

The owners do not have the data plate and in fact have never seen or found it. According to the owners, subject was purchased at a HUD Auction in 1992. They have never known who the manufacturer was but for some reason believe the subject was built in 1989. The first 3 characters on the HUD label are UL I. I did not see this agency at the website you have given. But I sure thank you all for trying to help.
