Offered a bribe!

Well, Dave, thanks for the compliment of uber, but I don't think I'm more ethical than most of the appraisers, just the ones that say they would accept a bribe.

I wouldn't take a bribe, either, but the generous handout would be much appreciated.

Are we done now, or no...?

Yes, Dave, you've made your position VERY clear. I know what you are saying, I get it.

Yes, it is rather synonymous to the word "over."

Oh, no we wouldn't want to have an excess of ETHICS in this profession. That would be tragic! Think of the consequences.

Some idjit willing to give me free money for nothing and me agreeing to nothing? Ethics aren't the issue at that point.

The issue is "taking the bribe." Meaning, you'd actually "do the deed." THAT'S taking a bribe. Taking some fool's money because he's dumb enough to believe everybody in the world can be bought is HIS problem, not necessarily mine. (Although I admit it *could* become mine if certain here were investigating the case!)

I don't give money to street folks in downtown Chicago, but if I were to do that they'd take it. Good for them! While I admit the circumstances are notably different, to me the OP's story would never even BE a bribe in my mind, as IF I were to EVER to do such a thing it would be more or less to see the guy try to expalin where his cash went, as I stated in a subequent post.

In the end the hassle would outweigh the benefit, but "ethics" were never the issue in *my* mind in the first place, only in the minds of those here invincibly determined to see nothing but the downside of *anything* I ever say.
