Offered a bribe!

However, I have those thoughts, and despite McNamara's protest to the contrary, I would think it, and whether or not he believes it germane to "the picture" or not is irrelevant to me.

There is no derailing the thread. I simply stated I wouldn't consider it, ever. You stated otherwise.

I would have taken it, stayed up all night finishing the damn thing, and called it a "rush Fee" based upon the purpose stated for the extra cash.

It's called thinking out loud, as was clarified later on, "amazing" that you managed to avoid that.

You ubers have very selective memories, and manage to derail so much of what you see in your paths.

And if some idiot were foolish enough to take $500.00 out of his pocket, and assume I was 'on his side' as a result, ethics wouldn't even be the issue. The loss of his money vs. the potential hassle I may subsequently encounter would be the only thing on my my mind. The lesson he'd learn would be worth the $500.00 tuition.

Dave...

If he's dumb enough to offer, and I render nothing but an ethical report, the only issue is is the hassle worth it.

If it's not you, fine, don't even consider. I think differently than most, I get that, it just might me. SO WHAT? I have nothing to fear at the end of the day, so perhaps the lesson would be worth the tuition.

Look, this is dang academic; if it's not in your DNA then don't do it. If you like to live a little on the wild side, and have a creative mind that works overtime, you think about things like that. Quite frankly, I've always lived on the wild side, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love it. Why you ubers give a damn about the way I live my life is beyond me unless perhaps you're dissatisfied with your own.

Bottom line: In this instance ethics aren't the issue, it's just that you're wired differently than I am. At the end of the day the result would be the same in either of our cases, an honest report.

Now if *that* bothers you, whoa...

Dave...

In one corner it's the man with the creative mind that works overtime, Adept Appraisal. In the other, a tag team of AF Uber Posters, uncompromisingly standing for what they know is right.

I've been enjoying the sparring for most of the day.

Who will get the last word? I stay tuned in anxious anticipation.

As for myself, I have received bribes in the form of gift certificates from more than a handful of restaurant owning homeowners through the years. I am a husky gentleman, and though I dearly love to eat, I politely passed in every instance. I've never so much as accepted a glass of water from a homeowner. I have on occasion used the bathroom when entering a house via lock box, but have never allowed the use of said facilities to influence my value estimate in any way.

Honest.

Say WHAT????????? :Eyecrazy::Eyecrazy::Eyecrazy:

In order to minimize the possibility of influence, I always use the half bath if one is available. Even the most steadfastly ethical appraiser could possibly succumb to the allures of a luxurious master bath.

That's obvious!

I do but not about business and earning my living!
