EV's are not expensive anymore and range is pretty similar to ICE. Model 3 and model Y after the tax credit is around $35k. Very mainstream already.

Unending EV disaster:"Profits at the German auto giant Mercedes plunged on Friday as sales of its slick new range of electric vehicles (EVs) went into freefall. Porsche abandoned its sales targets for battery-powered cars amid waning demand from customers. Ford is losing nearly $50,000 (£39,000) on every EV it sells, while Tesla’s profits dropped 45pc. Meanwhile, battery manufacturers such as Germany’s Varta are getting wiped out. Over the last few days, it has become clear that the EV industry is on the brink of collapse. Hundreds of billions of euros, dollars and pounds have been pumped into this industry by political leaders and the subsidy junkies that surround them – and it is surely time they were held to account for the vast quantities of taxpayer cash that has been wasted."

Luxury vehicle brands got destroyed by Tesla. Tesla owns the entry-level luxury category with the Model 3 and Model Y. High-end luxury consumers still want the Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Land Rover. Teslas are not competitive when it comes to refinement and finishes.

I don't drive my Tesla to appraisals. I drive my cheapest most humble looking car to appraisals and rentals.
Homeowners notice your cars. So many times they ask me which car and where I parked.

Tesla drastically cut their prices in past year, thus alienating many Tesla owners. It's not consider a luxury car as in the past.
Used to think Tesla held its value. Elon has short term goals in ramping up profits. Instead of frolicking into politics and his personal affairs, he should work to make Tesla profitable long term.

This ^^^ is where I'm at. I'm on my second hybrid. When I initially started looking for one, I was looking for a Prius V, which is the station wagon model. I then test drove a Camry Hybrid and never looked back towards the Prius. The Prius feels like a tin can with wheels in comparison to the Camry which felt like a real car in that it was quiet, smooth, sturdy. Yes, I lost MPG's and the station wagon design for running to Home Depot. But it was well worth it.

I'm on my second hybrid which is the Ford Fusion Titanium. Even though the Fusion has more bells and whistles, the Toyota was a better car.

I really like the fact that I can pull over and photograph a comparable and take notes while the engine is off with the AC on. For appraising, the hybrid is the ultimate car for a city dwellers.

I have no interest in going fully electric unless, I'm forced to. My next hybrid is going to be a plug-in one where I can drive around 30-40 miles without the combustion engine.

I do have an electric bike though! Super fun to buzz down to a wine bar or happy hour without worrying about driving. The best for going up hills! LOL
Our second car is a 2006 Toyota Solara, 2 Door Camry. If they hadn't quit making them, I would have bought another one. Had a 1999 one before that. I drive cars until they fall apart but I don't want to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere with no charger. I have a cousin who has one of the hybrids and drives all over the country for her job, so that's a me thing I'd have to get over. Lots of people have them here, the inexpensive types. If I was commuting to Nashville, it'd be worth it.

Years ago I remembered this Title Company lady who regretted buying a Solara. She's used to buying luxury brand cars and said she wouldn't buy Solara again.
Solara is Toyota just like Lexus. I see it as a good functional car, with Solara name better than Toyota. Some people need validation by the cars they drive.
Most millionaires don't drive very expensive cars. If they do, they have expensive cars along with Toyotas, the more practical and less ostentatious cars for criminals to follow them home.
