if an appraiser has not opt'd into SE then their data is not being shared.
I hope you are right about that, but I do have a fear that Corelogic could extract my files at any moment when the internet is connected between them and my computer. Logically-speaking, Alamode would be foolish to swipe our data without our permission, but the way they went about this whole SE debacle is really making me rethink my relationship with Alamode (especially considering that Corelogic is undoubtedly the driving force behind this free data grab- FREE for them that is). And if they were taking our data without our permission there is no way we'd ever even know it. Right now I'm wondering if Alamode is going to prompt me when I have used a comp before, or will they just tell me about comps I can buy.

I'm really disgusted with what Corelogic has done to Alamode, to the point that I'm considering switching to another software provider in the next year. In my opinion, Corelogic/Alamode has become too invasive in my day to day business.

Hopefully they will not revise their user agreements that everyone will have their data stolen, we better keep and eye out for this change, especially when renewing, etc. I would switch but I don't want to give up my own comp database due to UAD issues as I do reuse a lot of comps in my area of coverage.

Had this happen to me on the last 2 reports I did. Multiple comps I had done the purchase appraisal on weren't showing up as "yours", but the "peer" ones did. Had to bounce in and out of side by side to get them to show up. Also if I clicked on "show" they appeared.

You can still use "Smart Address" rather than smart exchange, only your
I called today to see if there was a way to turn off the "Peer Data". Apparently not, but there have been so many complaints they are thinking about it. A perfect example which prompted my call was a property that came up with 3 instances of "peer data" each entry had the right address but different pictures, none of which was right. Yeah, thats data I want to trust. Like I said before, garbage in , garbage out. No way I'd rely on crap data like that. Get rid of it ALM.

i hope so too for all you alamode users.

i would imagine the easiest way would be for one of your local peers who uses alamode and has opt'd into the program to see if your comps show up when they use the service. you would have to setup something with them, but you would also need to have something specific to your comp info so that it would be easily recognized as your data. maybe change the lot size to a specific number like 123,456 or 1,000,000.

When in alamode, if you use Windows OS look at your Resource Monitor > Network. Check out the various servers in Network Activity and Listening Ports. "Wireshark" would be a better option to look whose checking your network's data packets. I don't use alamode so I can't run a test. If you see a URL or IP that you can positively associate with SmartExchange or SmartAddress, block it with your hosts file. Or, if it's an IP, block it on your Router or create a block/rule within your Firewall. You can do it on any OS (OsX, Windose, Linux). If alamode still runs after a IP/URL block, which I'm guessing it would as it is primarily a Local Process, wha'la. They probably use multiple servers, but they might not have too many dedicated, at least yet (after you block one IP or URL, a new server sniffing you and your peers Comp Data may populate -so repeat process). CoreLogic sukzz. Id experiment and cut them off if possible.

Welcome to The Hotel Oklahoma.

“Next thing I remember / I was running for the door / I had to find the passage back / To the place I was before / “Relax,” said the night man / “We are programmed to receive / You can check out any time you like / But you can never leave.”

That's really depressing to hear. I actually liked the way previously used comps popped up as being used before, as soon as I entered an address. Silly me, I thought Alamode was offering a very useful tool to its software users. In reality, I think the Corelogicans were actually just setting us all up for their SmartExtraction swindle.

Unfortunately, I think you're correct. Nckel and dime us on everything....even features previously included in the subscription. All while exploiting our data.

Got a little under a year to find another option and then I'm done. If no one gets a web based software up and running, I'll go ACI or Clickforms. It would take a radical change in direction for Core-lamode to keep me at this point.
