I always considered attached SFR as having a common wall.
In SF, many homes appear "attached" style but have detached walls on zero lot lines.
Does ANSI addresses common walls?

*hand in air* So how does ANSI deal with rough cedar beveled siding (1 inch tappered to 3/8th) and how do you use a iPad, Ladar or a Disto to make sure that ANSI length is correct?

That is for you to decide, since the standard doesn't cover it. I would take the midpoint, but could see an argument for min width. Just make sure to indicate what your decision was, so as not to be misleading.
