Gordon... I don't think you understand that, for some of us at least, our dogs are our children .. for most of us, they are our best friends ... and for the majority of us, they are just a part of the family ... Jasper goes where I go ... work, play, Jenny's, Cat's, doctor's office, grocery store.. I have fans mounted in the truck for him ... carry water in bottles for him ... share my lunch with him (not bite for bite mind you). He sits in HIS chair, or at my feet while I work at the office ... and on comp runs, we often stop by one of the creeks (pronouced "Crik" in these here parts) and let him drink, play and cool off. I never have to worry about my daughter playing outside ... when she is here, he is wherever SHE is ...

I wouldn't leave my daughter at home by herself all day ... so why should I leave Jasper??

Sorry, Nanette, but "Simon" looks to me like he'd hand over the car keys for a belly rub. :rof: :rof: :rof:

Tessa will cave in a heart beat if she thinks there is food involved. Simon is a total sweety but I am his #1 human and has been known to be protective of me when he thought something was up. I hope that is presence would deter any bad guys. Just wishful thinking....

Sally gets a real charge out of barking and lunging at people she doesn't know, and even some she does know. I don't know why she thinks it's so much fun but it can scare people. (Could be from the severe abuse she got before someone brought her to the shelter). After I tell her to cut it out, she looks at me with an expression that says "that was really fun!" She's such a dope! But even when she's doing it, as soon as she figures out the person likes here, she's worthless as a guard dog.

Thanks Ben, he is a beautiful dog and a real lover, can be a pain though, just like them all. He was a rescue, have no idea what breeds he is; everyone has a different opinion.

Have Rottie, will travel

I have a 100lb Rottie. Contrary to popular belief, they are easy going, friendly and lazy. IF the weather is nice (Spring/Fall) she loves to go on car rides TO inspections. I have never taken her into a house. It isn't because I don't trust her, because I do very much, but because I never saw a reason to. Though she is nice window dressing when passing through the real rough sides of town.

Although, I have often joked about pulling up to a house on horseback. How cool would that be? Who knows, if gas prices keep going up I might end up having to ride my horse to inspections :) ha ha ha.

riding a horse to an inspection would be really cool....I would do it if I could get away with it. I rode my bike to one near by my house (it was cool out and I can always use the exercise). The home owner did not catch it until I was grabbing my bike to leave, she was surprised and I said, 'gas prices, you know?'

My dog looks just like yours Tim, and apparantly just as bad. I take him all the time if the weather is right.

I can't believe this is even a question on here. But I guess if you're an appraiser in the country it's a different story.
Gordon I don’t think it’s a country/city thing. I grew up in a community with fewer than 300 people and cannot imagine taking a dog along on an appraisal inspection. I thought this was a joke for the first several pages. I suppose showing up with Fido must be a big PR push for some.

Of course, if I lived in Arizona, I wouldn't consider taking a dog along - too hot!!!!!!
